Maria, 

Yes there may be a certification note on the margin of the baptism.  

Do you have a name and date if his birth.  Also, if you know where he served 
you can write to that church for more information.

Maria,
Don't know if this really answers your questions but when a man wanted to
become a Priest he had to prove his ancestors back 4 generations. These
records are called Degenere (sp?) and as dispensation records, hold much
genealogical info but they are not all still around! They would be help in
the Archive at Angra.
