Re: [BackupPC-users] backup never ending from a edubuntu client
don Paolo Benvenuto said: I installed backuppc on a ubuntu server, and I back up all the othere ubuntu pc of my lan. I have a problem backing up from one of the ubuntu clients, precisely from a edubuntu pc. The edubuntu developers ensure me that edubuntu is identical to ubuntu in all that refers to rsync and ssh. The backup of the edubuntu client never ends. With strace I could see that the rsync on the client go timeout. The config is the same as for the other clients (all working perfectly), except for the dirs not to backup: I added in that config the dirs corresponding to /dev /proc etc. below /opt/ltsp/i386 I use the rsync method. Try to replace --devices with -D in $Conf{RsyncArgs}. I also had different problems with some clients I backup with rsync. This rsync option changed a while ago. Ralf - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [BackupPC-users] using the host lookup
Title: using the host lookup I have just installed Backup PC and have three hosts. When I access the UI to view the activity of the host I get the following message: Error: Only privileged users can view information about host store1. I am not sure why I can not view this host info. I set up the host name in two locations: /etc/hosts and /u/BackupPC/conf/hosts Also, When I first log into the server and then access the UI I am not seeing any summery of backup activity?? when looking at the online info I see screen shots that show hosts in various stages of back ups. thanks newbie Frank McAuley - Take Surveys. I'm not a filesystem expert, but in a decent many years of fsck'ing filesystems, I haven't seen a lot of alternatives to just letting it go ahead and try to 'fix' everything. I use Reiserfs myself, on the backuppc data pool partition. this may or may not be any more resilient (I've not had a hard poweroff in the middle of operation); but at least you don't have to worry about running out of inodes like you do on ext3. -- Carl Soderstrom Systems Administrator Real-Time Enterprises www.real-time.com - Take Surveys.
