No Java or something, those ar graphics...

In my situation, the graphs started to work again when *all* the backup
tasks completed successfully (I had one out of four failing and I also
did some filesystem changes).

My 2 cents...

[BackupPC-users] backuppc

2009-04-27 Thread soume86

Hello to all,
I have just installed backuppc on a machine ubuntu.
The installation it is crossed(spent) well. My problem is the following one:

I added a machine to protect goes the interface of administration.
And when I click to Start the complete saving and when I return on balance
sheet(assessment) of machines, he says to me that the saving failed (No. rows
dumped for share $C).

Here is the error that I had, if it can you help:
Contenu du fichier /var/lib/backuppc/pc/192.168.1.100/XferLOG.bad, modifié le

What is what has there configuration to be made.

My system is the same as yours:

drwxr-x--- 14 backuppc backuppc 4096  2009-02-26 13:26 /var/lib/backuppc
drwxr-x---  2 backuppc backuppc 4096  2009-04-27 09:00 /var/lib/backuppc/log
-rw-r-  1 backuppc backuppc 11784 2009-04-27 01:06
/var/lib/backuppc/log/pool.rrd

I wonder what else could be causing your problems. Do those tables need a
special browser plugin in order to display? Like java or something?

Re: [BackupPC-users] Some partitions don't want to backup

2009-04-27 Thread Laurin d'Volts
-> Is my issue about this covered in this FAQ page:
http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/faq/localhost.html
-> If so, no need to reply to this thread.

Here is the xferLOG for trial 2.

I was under the impression that backuppc had some form of root
control, thus it didn't have to bother with permission issues. Am I
wrong about this?

File /var/lib/backuppc/pc/localhost/XferLOG.bad.z

Running: /usr/bin/env LC_ALL=C /bin/tar -c -v -f - -C / --totals ./research
full backup started for directory /
Xfer PIDs are now 18099,18098
/bin/tar: ./research: Cannot open: Permission denied
Total bytes written: 10240 (10KiB, 89MiB/s)
/bin/tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Tar exited with error 512 () status
tarExtract: Done: 0 errors, 0 filesExist, 0 sizeExist, 0
sizeExistComp, 0 filesTotal, 0 sizeTotal
Got fatal error during xfer (No files dumped for share /)
Backup aborted (No files dumped for share /)
Not saving this as a partial backup since it has fewer files than the
prior one (got 0 and 0 files versus 0)

mount your USB drive at /var/lib/backuppc like this:
/dev/sda1 /var/lib/backuppc reiserfs noatime 0 1

Where /dev/sda1 is your USB drive's partition for backuppc to use.

PS, in my case I am using /dev/md0 which is a raid1 array of internal
drives...

Adam

[BackupPC-users] Some partitions don't want to backup

2009-04-27 Thread Laurin d'Volts
I'm getting use to using backuppc, but it would appear a couple of
partitions don't want to backup.
I don't understand the situation, because one of the seperate
partitions backed up.
Two of them didn't. All of the seperate partitions I have are mounted.
I don't think there is too much special about the partitions in terms
of permissions, so maybe someone here can figure out the issue.

The two folders that don't want to backup are /office and /research.
It would appear the /wallpapers partition doesn't have problems with
being backed up.

Here is version 1 that I used:

BEGIN localhost.pl
#
# Local server backup of /etc as user backuppc
#
$Conf{XferMethod} = 'tar';

$Conf{TarShareName} = [
  '/'
];

$Conf{TarClientCmd} = '/usr/bin/env LC_ALL=C $tarPath -c -v -f - -C
$shareName --totals';

# remove extra shell escapes ($fileList+ etc.) that are
# needed for remote backups but may break local ones
$Conf{TarFullArgs} = '$fileList';
$Conf{TarIncrArgs} = '--newer=$incrDate $fileList';
$Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = {
  '*' => [
'/home/*/music/**.MP3',
'/home/*/music/**.mp3',
'*.iso'
  ]
};
$Conf{BackupFilesOnly} = {
  '*' => [
'/root',
'/home',
'/etc/dhcp3',
'/usr/local/bin',
'/usr/local/sbin',
'/wallpapers',
'/office',
'/research'
  ]
};

Here is version two I used to see if it would simply backup /research:

# Local server backup of /etc as user backuppc
#
$Conf{XferMethod} = 'tar';

$Conf{TarShareName} = [
  '/'
];

$Conf{TarClientCmd} = '/usr/bin/env LC_ALL=C $tarPath -c -v -f - -C
$shareName --totals';

# remove extra shell escapes ($fileList+ etc.) that are
# needed for remote backups but may break local ones
$Conf{TarFullArgs} = '$fileList';
$Conf{TarIncrArgs} = '--newer=$incrDate $fileList';
$Conf{BackupFilesOnly} = {
  '*' => [
'/research'
  ]
};

The error for the trial was this:
2009-04-27 02:40:34 full backup started for directory /
2009-04-27 02:40:35 Got fatal error during xfer (No files dumped for share /)
It didn't give me an error when /research was part of the first configuration.
There are files in /research

[BackupPC-users] Putting the pool onto an external drive, such as a USB drive

2009-04-27 Thread Laurin d'Volts
What I want to do is put the data pool onto a USB drive.

I would like to make sure that if the HDD were to corrupt one day, then
I could reformat the box with Debian stable, reinstall backuppc, and
then configure the CGI website to display the pool on the USB and what
is archived on the USB.

How do I go about keeping the pool on a USB drive and allowing a
seamless re-recognition of the pool?

P.S.

I'm on Debian stable now.
