[BackupPC-users] Issue with backup

2015-02-06 Thread absolutely_f...@libero.it
Hi,

I am using Backup 3.2.1 (Debian package)

I got this error after executing full backup through CLI:

..
..
Parent read EOF from child: fatal error!
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes
Got fatal error during xfer (Child exited prematurely)
cmdSystemOrEval: about to system /bin/true
cmdSystemOrEval: finished: got output
cmdSystemOrEval: about to system /bin/true
cmdSystemOrEval: finished: got output
CheckHostAlive: can't extract round-trip time (not fatal)
CheckHostAlive: returning 0
Backup aborted (Child exited prematurely)
Not saving this as a partial backup since it has fewer files than the prior one
(got 8 and 0 files versus 9)
dump failed: Child exited prematurely

Last successful scheduled backup is 2 week ago!

What can I do?
Thank you

That just means that the remote side exited or disconnected before the
run was finished. It looks like you've replaced the ping command with
/bin/true. Does that mean there is something unusual about your
network that keeps ping from working? If you go through a NAT
gateway or statefull firewall, rsync copies of large unchanged file
sections may let the connection time out because it appears idle.

I am having a bit of a problem starting
BackupPC-4.0.0alpha3 on my debian (jessie) system. When I run the
command: "/etc/init.d/backuppc start" as user backuppc or as root, I
get the following output:

"Starting backuppc: 2015-01-28 17:12:12
Can't create a test hardlink between a file in /data/BackupPC/pc and
/data/BackupPC/cpool. Either these are different file systems, or this
file system doesn't support hardlinks, or these directories don't exist,
or there is a permissions problem, or the file system is out of inodes
or full. Use df, df -i, and ls -ld to check each of these
possibilities. Quitting..."

They are not different file systems
they are ext4; the directories do exist and the permissions appear to be
correct (755). Additionally, the filesystem is not out of inodes and
is not full. Here are some outputs:

"backuppc@linux-pc5:/data/BackupPC$ ls -la

Any
suggestions as to what the problem is? It is probably something simple
but I am not that well versed on debian (or any other flavor for that
matter). Thanks.

btw, when I run the start command "/etc/init.d/backuppc start" as another user,
I get the following output:
