[BackupPC-users] Inodes problem since 3.1.0

2008-02-15 Thread Dirk Wackernagel

Hash: SHA1

Hello!

I installed 3.0.0. on my F7 and everything was running fine until I
updated to 3.1.0.

Now I get the following error:

Starting BackupPC: 2008-02-15 20:07:54 Can't create a test hardlink
between a file in /mnt/net-storage/backup/pc and
/mnt/net-storage/backup/cpool. Either these are different file systems,
or this file system doesn't support hardlinks, or these directories
don't exist, or there is a permissions problem, or the file system is
out of inodes or full. Use df, df -i, and ls -ld to check each of these
possibilities. Quitting...

I am using, as my save directory a IOmega NAS Drive and mount it via
cifs to /mnt/net-store/

There is plenty of free space on the NAS.

When I use df -i I get the following output:

FilesystemInodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on
/dev/sda16321120 241278 60798424% /
/dev/sda215433728 88078 153456501% /data
tmpfs 64356 1 643551% /dev/shm
/dev/sda52560864 18693 25421711% /home
//net-store.avalon.lan/nethdd
~ 0 0 0- /mnt/net-storage

So it seems that my problem are the inodes ... but even mounting with
serverino and noserverino as parameters do not fix the problem.

I will be very thankful for any help or hints to solve this problem.

Greetings

~ Dirk

Re: [BackupPC-users] Backup VM

2007-09-07 Thread Dirk Wessner
Hello Jonathan,

I found in the vmware documenation that there is a command line tool
that you can use to start/stop single VMs: vmware-cmd
Have a look at this link pointing to the VMware docs:

http://pubs.vmware.com/server1/admin/manage_vmbackup_onhost_gsx.html#1002716

I haven't done this, but maybe this is useful for you?

As far as I know, when the VMware tools are properly installed on the
guest operating system, if you shut down the vmware server the guest
systems are shut down gracefully before the server exits. You can
configure this in the VM settings (Power Options or so).
So before backing up, you could just stop vmware server and start it
again afterwards.

Dirk

No, it was not urgent. But in the meantime... :-)
But I don't want to hurry you in any way. I am happy about anything you do.

Yes, you're right.
This would be fine for me, too.

This actually works for my current purpose (I would like to send daily
eMails containing the changes in a filesystem - so one notices unwanted,
accidental changes.) Thank you.

That would be great!
I think it is always useful to have some kind of

lsbackuppc -h HOST -n DUMPNUM -s SHARE PATH...

[BackupPC-users] Get a file list via command line?

2007-02-18 Thread Dirk
Hello,

how can I get a list of backed up files via the command line?
Currently I use

/usr/local/BackupPC/bin/BackupPC_tarCreate -h amaretto_fotos -n -1 -s
Fotos . \
| tar tf -

But this is quite slow. Is there a better/faster way?

Thank you,

Dirk

I don't see any other Good Way (I suppose you could run a script on allyour workstations to nightly close Outlook...), but that definitelydoesn't mean there aren't.Regards,Gwenn---

[BackupPC-users] Errors with open files

2005-10-31 Thread Dirk Erasmus
Hi

We're using BackupPC (current version) to backup our workstations, problem is that most staff leave the Outlook apps open at night, causing the backup to fail. Is there not any way that I can config BackupPC to skip open files and continue?

This is the error we are getting.
2005-10-31 12:31:10 Backup failed on bronwen (Unexpected end of tar archive)
