[BackupPC-users] mysql backup isn't working

2006-11-08 Thread Mikael Lammentausta
Title: mysql backup isn't working

Backups of the host below (backup_client) works fine for the two first folders, but not for /var/lib/mysql. I tried to manually rsync this folder to /tmp/backup as the user backuppc, and it worked. I wonder why it doesn't when the backupPC daemon does it. Any ideas?

Ps. mysql is started, and backuppc doesn't and shouldn't have rights to shut it down.

The Xfer error log:

Running: /usr/bin/ssh -q -x -l backuppc backup_client /usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group --devices --links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive . /etc/

[BackupPC-users] no ping from hosts - and no backups

2006-11-07 Thread Mikael Lammentausta
Title: no ping from hosts - and no backups

The hosts I've set up have ICMP blocked - they don't reply to pings.
However, ssh + rsync do work, but it seems that BackupPC 2.1.2 does not start the
backups (even by actively asking them to) if it thinks the host is down.

How can I overrule the ping check?

I was wondering if someone knows a repository for Ubuntu which has the required upgrade to File::Rsync perl module. The latest in Dapper/Edgy is 0.52 while the required is 0.64.

[BackupPC-users] can I define per-PC directories to backup?

2006-11-02 Thread Mikael Lammentausta
Title: can I define per-PC directories to backup?

I just installed BackupPC 2.1.2 and I can't find how to define per-PC based directories to backup. At the moment it just backups the same directories from all hosts.

The web page mentions that this should be possible. Is it only in the version 3 beta?
