The NAS I'm looking at getting uses Windows XP Embeded... or something, and it only supports SMB/CIFS I'm not sure what is required for Hardlinks? [BackupPC-users] CIFS/SMB for Data Store (NAS)
Hi All, I was hoping to find out if anyone is using a CIFS mounted drive for the data store for their BackupPC implimentation?I currently have aprox 1TB of storage in the BackupPC machine, but it's filling up and I want to keep more backups as well, so I need more space. I've been tossing up putting more hard drives in the machine but it can only take so many. My other option is to go for something like the " LaCie 2000GB Ethernet Disk Gigabit " and use a CIFS mount and store everything on there I am a little worried about speed, I know it will be slower, but by how much I don't know... I would probably have a second gigbit card in my BackupPC machine dedicated to comms with the NAS. I would be interested to know if anyone has tried this or has any thoughts on this? Thanks HeapsRegards,Jamie Myershttp://www.huskywatch.comIt said requires Windows XP or better So I installed Linux!I'd love to change the world...
