[Bacula-users] Releasing the tape device at the end of the medium / autosensing tape changes ?

2006-02-19 Thread Florian Daniel Otel
Dear all,

I have the following question wrt backup jobs that span more than one tape:

Is it possible (and if yes, how?) to have the storage daemon release
the device when (in the middle of the job) the end of one tape is
reached and the next one is needed ?The idea is not requiring manually
unmounting/mounting the old/new tape, but just simply change the tape
and have the storage daemon sense that there is a new tape (rewind the
tape + attempt re-reading the volume label) and then relabel and use
the new tape if a "blank" tape was inserted in the mean time ?
AFAICT the "AlwaysOpen = no" thingie releases the tape at the end
of the job, not NOT in the middle of it i.e. when the end of the tape
is reached.

TIA,

Florian

[Bacula-users] Synchronous sending of "messages" to file-on-disk message destinations ?

2006-02-19 Thread Florian Daniel Otel
Hello all,

Is it possible to force synchronous writing to "append" or "file"
message destinations (in the "Messasges" resource)?

Apparently the writing of messages to file-on-disk destinations (in
either "append" or "file" mode) happens in buffered mode and is not
synchronous with the messages in a console with "autodisplay on".

TIA,

Florian

[Bacula-users] Following the tutorial: "show filesets" weird output?

2006-02-19 Thread Boniforti Flavio
Hello everybody.

When I enter in the console program and type "show filesets" I get
following output:

FileSet: name=Full Set
  O M
  N
  I /tmp/buildd/bacula-1.36.3
  N
  E /proc
  E /tmp
  E /.journal
  E /.fsck
  N
FileSet: name=Catalog
  O M
  N
  I /var/lib/bacula/bacula.sql
  N

I noticed that this differs from the output showed in the "A Brief
Tutorial" tutorial, where it states like:

FileSet: name=Full Set
  Inc: /home/kern/bacula/bacula-1.30
  Exc: /proc
  Exc: /tmp
  Exc: /.journal
  Exc: /.fsck
FileSet: name=Catalog
  Inc: /home/kern/bacula/testbin/working/bacula.sql

What's wrong in my configuration?

What I was wondering about, is the fact that in the tutorial there is
written "Inc:" and "Exc:", not all the single capital letters we both
see. Is this correct?
If yes, I'll step further, and reply as soon as I get another "error"...

[Bacula-users] Restore Error...

2006-02-19 Thread Boniforti Flavio
Hello there!
I'm still going on with the tutorial, and when it comes to restore from
my first backup, I get an error.
I backed up /var because I don't have the sources directory mentioned in
the tutorial, but that shouldn't change anything.

Here the error:

How may I check what got wrong?

Thanks.

[Bacula-users] Bacula Documentation incorrect page number references..

2006-02-19 Thread Erik P. Olsen
bacula.pdf from bacula-docs-1.38.5.tar.gz has page numbers offset by 16,
which means that you have to add 16 to the page numbers from the index
and from the table of contents to get the actual page number.
