Re: [Bacula-users] Restore more than one client
Mr. Goldim, Keep it simple. If you need to separate machines for access control, consider using ACL directives in the bacula-dir.conf file and create a catalog for each client. I'll leave it to you to read through the documentation on how to do this. [Bacula-users] bacula-web install trick
I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but this may help someone. In order to get bacula-web running on Fedora Core 4, and I assume on any system using PHP 5, do the following: Download and untar bacula-web from http://indpnday.com/bacula_stuff/bacula-web/mantisbt/main_page.php Let's say you put it in /var/www/html/bacula-web cd /var/www/html/bacula-web/external_packages mv phplot/ phplot.old now download the latest phplot from http://sourceforge.net/projects/phplot untar it into the bacula-web/external_packages directory being sure the directory is named phplot Make sure everything you just installed is readable by the httpd user. See your httpd.conf for the user and group. chmod -R apache.apache /var/www/html/bacula-web See the bacula-web documentation for help with other problems you might run into. [Bacula-users] More on the IBM Ultrium 3851 L28
Hi, after some troubles I got this changer working. The most of the trouble was to figure that this model doesnt have a SCSI interface to the changer. So I had to write a custom mtx-changer script using netcat to have the tapes changed via the telnet interface of the device. The script is quite rough (I'm not a shell programmer, nor an expert), and tested just on a total of one (1) working environment. So I'm not sure if it will work for other people, but up to now is working nice for me. In any case you can find it for download here: https://svn.truelite.it/truedoc/attachment/wiki/BaculaBackup/mtx-changer?rev=&format=raw I hope it can be useful for someone else. I put it under the GPL, so you can freely use, modify and improve it. I cannot find a copyright notice on the standard I got from my system, so I put in it just my name, feel free to add the other authors to it. Re: [Bacula-users] Too early End Of Medium
Thanks for your help Wolfgang but as it seems, the solution was much simpler. I did the tests with our "backup" tape-library and they worked fine. Ok, tape drive broken, I changed them and it works. I dunno why but I threw a cleaning tape into the new library just to clean the head before the weekend and thought about the old (replaced) library. The library has 6 slots, one of them holds a cleaning tape and the library is configured to clean itself whenever it needs it. Mh, doesn't seem to have worked. I cleaned the replaced tapedrive and *BINGO* works again. Right, time to check the automagic cleaning thingy ;) Greetings and a nice weekend to all of you. [Bacula-users] RE: [Bacula-users] DDS-4 Tape Low Capacity
Check if you have a "Maximum Volume Bytes" directive in your DIR.conf file or a "Maximum Volume Size" directive in your SD.conf file limiting the amount of data written to tape. /Jens > Dear All, > > > > I hope someone can shed some light on this. > > > > I have a Seagate DDS-4 drive (Osprey I think). [Bacula-users] DDS-4 Tape Low Capacity
Dear All, I hope someone can shed some light on this. I have a Seagate DDS-4 drive (Osprey I think). I have TDK catridges that claim to be 20/40GB (I guess the upper figure is with hardware data compression). However, in use with Bacula and also when used with “fill” on btape, I get a maximum of about 1,200,000,000 bytes written on each tape before it reckons the tape is full. I was expecting to get about 20 times as much data on a tape. Has anyone any ideas? Many thanks Catsmuvva (aka Nicole)

[Bacula-users] Too early End Of Medium
Good morning. Running Bacula 1.38.5 on Linux. I just tried to bextract all files from a tape. To process started, recovered some files, got to the end of the first block and thought it was at the end of tape. Mmmmh. Ok, next try with 'bls' to list all tapes 17-Mar 09:15 bls: Got EOF at file 1 on device "TapeStorage" (/dev/nst0), Volume "D01170" 17-Mar 09:15 bls: End of Volume at file 1 on device "TapeStorage" (/dev/nst0), Volume "D01170" 17-Mar 09:15 bls: End of all volumes. There are ~140GB saved on that tape, how do I make Bacula to go over the EOF and read all data from the tape? This is an IBM LTO1 drive 'ULT3580'.
