Even sniplets like for example exclude patterns would be very helpfull in figuring out how to do it right. The following example is something that looks ok to me but doesnt work at all and makes bacula barf about allmost every line contained within the exclude options.(the ones containing wild*) Also im a little confused about Exclude{} and Exclude=yes... comparing rel-bacula.pdf with the provided default configurations and the few google hits just made that worse. i use bacula 2.4.4. --- FileSet { Name = WinxpFull Enable VSS = yes Include { Options { signature = SHA1 compression=GZIP ignore case = yes } File = c:/ File = d:/ } Exclude { File = c:/temp File = d:/temp wilddir = c:/windows/temp* wilddir = *temporary internet files* wildfile = *pagefile.sys wildfile = *.log wildfile = *system32/perflib*.dat } } --- bacula-dir -t Config error: Keyword wilddir not permitted in this resource any hints would be very appreciated. If you include exclude = yes in your Exclude {} block then all Files and/or directories selected would be excluded. If you leave out the exclude=yes statement then everything will be _included_ (seems weird to me since the block is clearly called Exclude...) First of all a Exclude {} block accepts only File directives. If you want to exclude files and/or directories based on wildcards or regexps than you have to put these insind an Options {} block. If you include exclude = yes in your Options {} block then all Files and/or directories selected would be excluded. If you leave out the exclude=yes statement then everything will be _included_ Following your example the FileSet should look like this: FileSet { Name = WinxpFull Enable VSS = yes Include { Options { wilddir = c:/windows/temp/* wilddir = *temporary internet files* wildfile = *pagefile.sys wildfile = *.log wildfile = *system32/perflib*.dat exclude = yes } Options { signature = SHA1 compression=GZIP ignore case = yes } File = c:/ File = d:/ } Exclude { File = c:/temp File = d:/temp } } Note that if you put something inside an Exclude {} block it will be completely ignored (the whole directory). [Bacula-users] Strange backup errors on Windows 2003, 2.4.4 fd, 2.4.3 director
Hi, on one W2K3 machine (same settings as a bunch of others without problems), I started getting some strange errors. The job report says Backup OK with warnings (which is expected), the Windows console tray reports 'Error' for all jobs, even after restart of the bacula-fd service and a rerun of the job which now reports Backup OK in bconsole. The job also does D:, so I do get some files backed up for the second day. The eventlog doesn't show anything bacula related, I haven't tried rebooting the server yet. Is the server on the fritz? But I have seen the second mount fail and then a third mount work. So if your problem is the same as mine, then the issue is not that the tape loses its label, it is that the drive doesn't successfully load the tape sometimes. I have modified the mtx-changer script so it loads a tape and then tries to read the label with btape. If it fails, then it unloads and reloads and tries again. If it fails again, then a third attempt is made before giving up. In theory, this reduces a 20% failure rate to .20 x .20 x .20 = .008 or 99.2% success. The 20% failure rate is a guess. I haven't actually counted my successes and failures, but if anything I suspect it fails even more often than 20%. -- Mark Nienberg Sent from an invalid address. Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula and Webmin
I'm running 2.4.2 on Ubuntu. So your save/delete job buttons DO come up when the daemons are up? On Wed, Mar 11, 2009 at 11:27 AM, K. [Bacula-users] bacula not use all bandwidth of network

Note: I believe that the bandwidth you are looking at is 'data transfered' / 'time for job'. The time for a job is longer than that taken to transfer the data. This is expected for incremental backups because the hard drive spends most of the time thrashing finding the files to backup. However in most cases even with the low data rate this is much faster than running a full backup with a much higher backup rate.
