Yes, sorry for the confusion.

Only in the sense that once the tapes were removed from backup1's
autoloader, the command "update slots" was done.

Is there something else that needs doing?

A "list media" for the Archive pool shows the "In changer" and "Slot"
flag for AR0030L4 to be 0.

The subject line appears misleading. It makes me think you're trying to
take a backup of box A and restore it to Box B. This is rather straight
forward.

Instead, what you're saying is:

- backup of Box A was done to Storage Daemon backup1
- tape was then moved to Storage Daemon flash

Does the Director know that the tape has moved from one system to another?

[Bacula-users] Unable to restore jobs created on one client, on another

2010-10-20 Thread Richard Scobie
Bacula 5.0.2 Linux.

I have a number of Jobs, written to LTO4 tape on a host, backup1, which
I am trying to restore from with the tapes loaded in a host called
flash. Director is running on host library1.

These restores are failing with either an error:

"RestoreFiles.2010-10-21_13.54.01_08is waiting on max Storage jobs",
and there are no other jobs pending, or fail completely with "Fatal Error".

All bacula fds,sds and director have been restarted a number of times.
Below is a typical fatal error scenario:

"restore jobid="345" client="backup1-fd_arc"
file="?restore_476707713_16" done

1 file selected to be restored.

Bootstrap records written to /var/bacula/library1-dir.restore.1.bsr

The job will require the following
Volume(s) Storage(s)SD Device(s)
===

 AR0030L4  HP_MSL2024HP_MSL2024

NOTE: HP_MSL2024 is attached to backup1 and job is modified to set flash
as the restore client and storage:

bootstrap="/var/bacula/library1-dir.restore.1.bsr"
where="/mnt/storage1/share/bacula/restores" priority="10" yes
Job queued. JobId=466

NOTE: A "status" shows:

Daemon started 21-Oct-10 11:56, 0 Jobs run since started.

I don't understand here why it attempts to use "Drive-1", which is the
drive on the creation host, backup1.

Am I missing something basic here? All the jobs tried restore OK on
backup1, where they were created.

Richard

[Bacula-users] premature recycling

2010-10-20 Thread Dan Langille
I'm getting recycling before retention expires. Or so I think. It may be
possible that the Pools definitions are out of date, but before I run an
update command, I wanted to see if anyone saw something out of order here.

This is the Volume before it was recycled:

Pool: FullsFile
| mediaid | volumename| volstatus | enabled | volbytes  | volfiles
| volretention | recycle | slot | inchanger | mediatype | lastwritten
   |
| 445 | FileAuto-0445 | Full  |   1 | 5,368,691,646 |1
|   94,608,000 |   1 |0 | 0 | File  | 2010-04-16

That is 3 years retention. Last written April this year

The Volume is then recycled during the job:

2010-10-20 Thread Martin Simmons
Indeed, the copy job is an administative job, which creates a second job that
is the copy. The latest select output shows the same FileIndex and LStat
atime for both jobs as expected.

Martin, thanks for your suggestions.

I now did a test:
 - Noted the last fileid in db.
 - Ran BackupCatalog job. In the file table, one entry was added for this job
(JobID=3366):

select * from file where fileid > 273350941;
273350942;1;3366;7656;46696;0;"P0B stOS IGg B Bk Bl A FS1p6i BAA qZXI BMvvaQ
BMvveo BMvveo A A C";"IIuhxgZwyUMitZ4C4p5m4g"

 - Then I ran the duplicate to tape job.
One thing I note is that the copy job is running (JobId=3367), and the
BackupCatalog job is also again running (JobID=3368) when I start the copy job.

After copy, I checked the file entries again:
select * from file where fileid > 273350941;
273350942;1;3366;7656;46696;0;"P0B stOS IGg B Bk Bl A FS1p6i BAA qZXI BMvvaQ
BMvveo BMvveo A A C";"IIuhxgZwyUMitZ4C4p5m4g"
273350943;1;3368;7656;46696;0;"P0B stOS IGg B Bk Bl A FS1p6i BAA qZXI BMvvaQ
BMvveo BMvveo A A C";"IIuhxgZwyUMitZ4C4p5m4g"

As you can see, one entry was added for JobID 3368.

So copy seems not to be the cause of the problem.

I don't think regexp will work. The best way is to translate the C code
from the Bacula source into PHP. Since you are requiring PHP 5.0 or
above, I think, then the values could be placed in a class object, just
as Bacula puts them in C struct. Or, since all directives are key=value
pairs, you could just put them in an associative array.

What database are you using for Bacula? If its postgresql, you need to
uncomment the "dbi driver" line on the Catalog resource
(bacula-dir.conf) and also configure db port (likely 5432).

1st obs.: Dont sent signature attachments or html content to mail list.
It only generates more trash, and its unsafe if compared to plain text.
2nd obs.: No one think its cool telling all your certifications on the
mail signature. Worse: advertising that you are a Microsoft Certified
Professional means you don't know nothing about computers. =P

You probably want to ask Jamie Cameron over at the Webmin mailing
list. And also provide details of what system you use this.
Bacula-director does show up in webmin under gentoo for me. With that
said webmin is slated to be removed from portage. I will continue to
support it on my overlay as much as I can..
