What version of Bacula are you using now? What version of SQLite?

This is a kernel or hardware problem and has nothing to do with
bacula. Try a more recent kernel like 2.6.37 if it is not too
difficult to do.

[Bacula-users] Tape label errors from dmesg

2011-02-24 Thread jerry lowry
hello, I had an interesting development today. I labeled a dlt IV tape
( standalone tape drive) for a new backup using bconsole. It took
sometime to return, so I went out and started looking at logs. It
completed successfully. The message log did not have anything in it but
when I did a 'dmesg', it listed a number of errors. I have attached
them. Should I be concerned with this or is it fixed in one of the new
updates.

I am running 5.0.1 on FC 12 ( director, storage), FC13 (storage server)
and all clients ( windows, linux, solaris)

thanks,

jerry

How about an Admin job that echos commands to bconsole which starts
the other jobs.

[Bacula-users] Job running Jobs

2011-02-24 Thread João Alberto Kuchnier
Hi everyone!

I need some help to enable a new backup procedure here.

Every month, I have to store a backup tape externally with data from all
my 30 servers. Today, I would have to manually run each backup without
scheduling. Is there any way to create a work that runs several other
jobs successively on a single tape?

I would appreciate any other solution.

Thanks for your help!

I moved from bacula 3.0.3 to 5.0.3. It was not an upgrade, it was a new
install.
However, the database was copied from the old system to the new after a version
upgrade.

Unfortunately I am unable to check if the indexes have been created correctly.
I
simply don't know how to do it.

2011-02-24 Thread Chris Geegan
Have you checked your bacula-sd.conf on viper to see what the Address is set
to? A quick test is to see if you can telnet from scorpion to viper on port
9103. A common issue is the SD server being set to address "localhost". At
this setting, clients cannot connect.

[Bacula-users] Centos 5.5 + Bacula + windows 2008 R2 client - nightmare!

2011-02-24 Thread farmershort
Hi All,

First off, I should mention that I have spent days trawling the internet for
answers, including right here at backup central. I have managed to fix many of
the issue I'd been having along the way, but now... now I've really hit a brick
wall.

so, I'm fairly new to *nix of any flavour, but I'm hopefully past the stage of
being a casual web ubuntu user. I have set up a CentOS 5.5 box, and installed
Bacula from rpms. There were a whole host of teething troubles, but I
eventually got thos solved. I'm now at the stage where I have a bacula-dir.conf
file which contains a few include statements, to keep it tidy, and that 'bat'
runs fine in gnome. I can see the jobs I have created, for the most part I can
see pools also.

for a while, I was completely baffled as to why the log file was empty. I
*think* I've worked aroung that issue now. It seems that one of the daemons
didn't have write access on the log file. I fixed this in a very poor fashion
(for testing) with chmod 777.

so, now that I have a log file which gets populated (eventually - normall on
cancelling a job). My core issue is that when I run a job, it says it's
running, but doesn't actually do anything. The files and bytes counts stay at
zero - both in bconsole, and bat. I have set my FileStorage location to be
/backups/bacula. This directory remaind empty! I have also chmod'd the backup
and bacula directories, incase that was the issue.

the windows server is called scorpion, and the fd is scorpion-fd. the bacula
centos server is called viper.

so, now for the configs & logs:
Log file:

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been using SQLite for the entire time that I've
been using Bacula -- ten years or so -- with absolutely no difficulty.
Admitedly, my needs are limited -- three servers & eight pc's -- but it's
been simple to administer & troubleshoot and reliable.
