Hi,

Could you tell what returns command:

/some/localization/bin/vchanger -u root -g root
/some/localization/etc/vchanger.conf LISTMAGS

Could you put also output from below command?

/some/localization/bin/vchanger -u root -g root
/some/localization/etc/vchanger.conf list

(it needs complete vchanger files localization instead of
/some/localization/...)

If your vchanger is working on another user than "root" you should
actualize above commands with correct username and group for vchanger
(-u option for username and -g option for group).

Regards,
gani

Hi,

Did you look into "/etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup.pl" script?
Could you confirm that variable $dir_conf at the begining of the
script contains a correct localization "dbcheck" script?

For example:
my $dir_conf='/usr/local/bacula/sbin/dbcheck -B -c
/usr/local/bacula/etc/bacula-dir.conf';

If it does not point to correct localization then you can correct it.
You can also run command included in the $dir_conf variable with -C
'MyCatalog' option at the end of command.

[Bacula-users] Delete disc file after job migrated to tape

2011-11-08 Thread Stephen Carr
Dear All

I am using the new option in 5.2.1 "Purge Migrated Job".

I have Bacula writing Full backups to disc and then later I migrate the
Full backups to tape.

Has anyone has a script to check there are no jobs in a disc volume and
then delete the disc volume BUT not remove it from the catalog. You may
ask why - reason - these volumes are large 100-200 GB.

Thanking you

[Bacula-users] how to multiplex two jobs using two different tape pools

2011-11-08 Thread Richard Tabor
All my backup jobs spool to disk before going to tape.

I have a small set of jobs that can take several days to complete and it locks
up the use of the tape drive.

I would like to have the drive freed while the long job is spooling to disk so
that the smaller jobs can run. I realize that there will be some amount of
extra tape changing between pools.

I have successfully run multiple jobs together when they use the same pool, but
when I try to specify different pools I get the "waiting to reserve a device"
message on the job.

I am running an older version of bacula - 2.0.3. Am planning on upgrading
soon to a later version.

If this was Files, I know that I could create a second Device, but the
documentation indicates that this should not be done with tapes.

Thanks.

Richard

No question now - this is a VSS issue with Windows, not Bacula. I ran
his other script to copy individual files out of the VSS instead of
mapping a persistent snapshot, first against one of the .rar files and
then against one of the .MYD files - both came up corrupt.

[Bacula-users] bacula and tls. Can't get that working

2011-11-08 Thread Oliver Hoffmann
Hi all,

it is such a hassle to get that running. Could someone guide me please?

1. What I did

I made my own CA using this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenSSL
Now I have a CA and self-signed keys. So there are server_crt.pem,
server_key.pem and cacert.pem. The common name is always
ba-server.some.domain. I altered the file index.txt.attr. Now it reads
unique_subject = no.

Of course I read this one:
http://www.bacula.org/de/dev-manual/Bacula_TLS_Communication.html
and then that one:
http://www.devco.net/pubwiki/Bacula/TLS/
which was quite helpful. I tried to have an encrypted communication
between the director and bconsole as a first attempt but it doesn't
work.

bconsole.conf looks like:

Director {
  Name = ba-server-dir
  DIRport = 9101
  address = ba-server.some.domain
  Password = "mypw"
  TLS Enable = yes
  TLS Require = yes
  TLS CA Certificate File = /etc/bacula/certs/cacert.pem
  TLS Certificate = /etc/bacula/certs/server_crt.pem
  TLS Key = /etc/bacula/certs/server_key.pem
}

bacula-dir.conf (just the upper part):

Director {# define myself
  Name = ba-server-dir
  DIRport = 9101# where we listen for UA connections
  QueryFile = "/etc/bacula/scripts/query.sql"
  WorkingDirectory = "/var/lib/bacula"
  PidDirectory = "/var/run/bacula"
  Password = "mypw"
  Messages = Daemon
  DirAddress = ba-server.some.domain
  Heartbeat Interval = 60
  Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20

  TLS Enable = yes
  TLS Require = yes
# TLS Verify Peer = yes
#  TLS Allowed CN = "ba-server.some.domain"
  TLS CA Certificate File = /etc/bacula/certs/cacert.pem
  TLS Certificate = /etc/bacula/certs/server_crt.pem
  TLS Key = /etc/bacula/certs/server_key.pem
}

I used TLS Verify Peer and TLS Allowed CN as well before.

2. What I got:

Connecting to Director ba-server.some.domain:9101
TLS negotiation failed
Director authorization problem.
Most likely the passwords do not agree.
If you are using TLS, there may have been a certificate validation
error during the TLS handshake. Please see
http://www.bacula.org/en/rel-manual/Bacula_Freque_Asked_Questi.html#SECTION00376
for help.

In the log file I see:

08-Nov 17:16 ba-server-dir JobId 0: Error: tls.c:92 Error with
certificate at depth: 0, issuer
= /CN=ba-server.some.domain and so on
ERR=26:unsupported certificate purpose

Thus I searched for "unsupported certificate purpose" and found out
that nsCertType was set to "server". Means both certs have a purpose
called "server". I made a new crt/key with "client". No success.

I couldn't find either how to set nsCertType to nothing or if bacula is
able to ignore such a setting.

Thanks for help!

Greetings,

Oliver

 Why bscan? You're trying to restore the last database backup, not to
 rebuild the database from the archives.

 If you have the bootstrap file of the last db backup, and the backup
 volume itself, you can simply restore the database dump file with
 bextract; then you just need to reload the file using mysql and you're
 good to go.

 If you also lost the db backup volumes, then you must use bscan -- but
 in that case you have no use for bootstrap files.

[Bacula-users] compression

2011-11-08 Thread Randy Katz
Hi,

Has anyone changed from GZIP compression to LZO for disk backups and
tracked the
performance / disk space usage difference? Any advocates out there?
Anyone of the
opinion it is the only way to go.

Any hints appreciated thanks,
Randy Katz

I didn't see anything else significant, but I will look again in a few
hours.

Didn't notice any, but will retest.

Most of our backups are of VMs, so we cloned a production machine for
our test and put it on its own VLAN. With no outside traffic, the
database should be pretty quiet. I do not have the DB password to
flush_tables_with_read_lock, but I should be able to stop the DB.

Already tried this one.

Definitely a promising approach. I will let you know what I find.

I don't expect MySQL to be in a quiesced state. The client is
responsible for scheduling mysqldumps. What I do expect is that the
inconsistent database files be read rather than causing the remainder of
the backup to fail. If it were our server rather than a client's, then
running a mysqldump in the run before is exactly how I would handle
consistent database backups, but that still doesn't solve the problem of
the unreadable snapshots.

[Bacula-users] Protokoll mysql backup

2011-11-08 Thread Robert Kromoser
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren.

Ich sichere die mysql Datenbanken unserer Linux Systeme mit Bacula 5.0.3
und dem Plugin

Bpipe.so. Nach dem das Backup gelaufen ist und ich eine Kontrolle wie
folgt mache:

SHELL> echo "list files jobid=156" | bconsole >job156.log

Lg Robert

[Bacula-users] Problem backing up

2011-11-08 Thread Luca Bertoncello
Hi, list!

This night the full backup did not work.
I'm trying to find the problem, but I can understand it...

I think, the problem is somewhere in the changer...
If I give an "update slots" I get:

Connecting to Director hal9000.netzing.intra:9101
1000 OK: hal9000-dir Version: 5.0.1 (24 February 2010)
Enter a period to cancel a command.
update slots
Automatically selected Catalog: Netzing
Using Catalog "Netzing"
Automatically selected Storage: changer1
Connecting to Storage daemon changer1 at hal9000.netzing.intra:9103 ...
3306 Issuing autochanger "slots" command.
Device "sata-changer" has 0 slots.
No slots in changer to scan.
You have messages.
quit
Date is not a known vacation day.

I use an autochanger for SATA
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/vchanger/) which normally runs without
problem...

Can you help me?

Thanks a lot!
