 From experience I know that "Max Run Sched Time" is the time between
the scheduled time of the job and when it gets cancelled. It doesn't
matter if it's waiting for something or if it's actually running. If the
job is still "alive" in a way after the "Max Run Sched Time" has passed
the director will cancel it.

"Max Run Time" only starts counting from when the job actually starts
running. So the time it waits from the scheduled time before actually
running (waiting for other jobs, waiting for storage, ...) isn't taken
into account.

Re: [Bacula-users] Types of backup clarifications needed

2012-05-08 Thread Alex Lucas
Could you please provide a link to the most up to date page/doc about
VirtualFull (including setup instructions).

RE the "Since" type of backup -- if not implemented it should be hidden,
no? :)

A related question:
We have a large mail server to backup and full backup is too long hence
there is a need for "reverse-incremental" backup: full backup runs only
once and next backups are merged into the full backup (sounds like
Virtual so far) but we would like to remove old increments (lets say
retention is 60 days) without removing the original full. How can this
be done with Bacula?
The problem with VirtualFull is that it cannot be used as a base for
next incremental (unless I am wrong?)

Alex

The "Since" level is not actually implemented.

It looks like the VirtualFull doc was never merged into the main chapter.

2012-05-08 Thread Tim Krieger
Hey Gandalf,

The client should be the file daemon that has your tape drive attached I would
think, that is what mine is defined as. I have not seen the message waiting
for volume, I would think bacula should have emailed a message to the operator
for intervention tho, possibly it will contain clues.

I suspect Jurgen is on the correct track, bacula does not seem to be able to
find an appendable volume for some reason

The file's size changed from what it was between the time bacula first
scanned the disk to generate a list of files to backup and the time the
file was actually backed up.

"correcting catalog" means that's exactly what happened.

I would be more worried about the consistency of that backed up file.

[Bacula-users] The sizes do not match! Volume=184324976797 Catalog=183931066525

2012-05-08 Thread xunil321

Dear all,
we are trying to backup our QNAP TS-859 NAS device running Bacula-fd 3.0.3
which we installed by the ipkg tool. Our director is under SLES 11 with
Bacula 5.2.3
and MySQL 5.0.67. Unfortunately we are getting these error messages:

JobId 4067: Start Backup JobId 4067, Job=qnap-1Backup.2012-05-08_14.36.00_02
JobId 4067: Using Device "FileStorage"
JobId 4067: Volume "FILEBackup01" previously written, moving to end of data.
JobId 4067: Warning: For Volume "FILEBackup01":
The sizes do not match! Volume=184324976797 Catalog=183931066525
Correcting Catalog

Can something be done to make these sizes equal ie manipulate/modify the
database?
How to do this?

THX in advance for any hint!

Hello Machiel,

thank you, I might give this a shot eventhough I didn't want to use
direct SQL commands because I deleted around 30 clients and I don't want
to delete the wrong clients from the db.

are the tapes labeled already?

are you using automatic labeling?

[Bacula-users] Max Run Time behavior

2012-05-08 Thread Silver Salonen
Hi.

Does anyone know how to interpret Max Time directives from
http://www.bacula.org/en/dev-manual/main/main/New_Features_in_3_0_0.html#SECTION00132417000
 ?

Should the "Max Run Time" indicate "Run Time" + "Blocked" (Max Wait Time) +
"Run Time"?
Also, "Max Run Sched Time" is said to be "Max Start Delay + Max Run Time", but
on the drawing it ends with the 1st "Run Time" and thus lasts until the the job
starts waiting for something.

Yes, actually i'm doing backup to disks.

Tape device is not used.

Already done for a test client, but Bacula is not able
to connect to the tape.

This is my test client pool:

Pool {
   Name = myclient-FullPool
   Label Format = "${Year}${Month:p/2/0/r}${Day:p/2/0/r}_
${Hour:p/2/0/r}${Minute:p/2/0/r}-myclient-full"
   Pool Type = Backup
   Recycle = no
   AutoPrune = yes
   Volume Retention = 90 days
   Maximum Volume Jobs = 1
   Action On Purge = Truncate
   Next Pool = Tape # Necessario per fare la copia su nastro
}

This is mine:

Job {
  Name = "TapeCopyFull"
  Type = Copy
  Pool = myclient-FullPool
  Level = Full
  Schedule = "WeeklyTapeFull"
  Client = None
  Fileset = None
  Selection Type = SQLQuery
  Selection Pattern = "SELECT * FROM Job WHERE (EndTime BETWEEN NOW() -
INTERVAL 40 DAY AND NOW()) AND Level = 'F' AND (JobStatus = 'e' OR
JobStatus = 'T') AND Name LIKE '%myclient%' GROUP BY Name;"
  Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 1
  Allow Duplicate Jobs = Yes
  Messages = Standard
  Storage = File
  Write Bootstrap = "/var/lib/bacula/offsite-copy-%c.bsr"
}

what should I use as Client option ?

I have tons of Full Pools that need to by copied to tape.
Should I edit each pool and add the Next Pool option or should I use a
single configuration that will copy all full pools in a single run?
