[Bacula-users] Netware Shares sichern

2012-09-12 Thread Jürgen Ecker
Hallo,

[Bacula-users] Netware shares backup

2012-09-12 Thread Jürgen Ecker
Hello,

i have a bacula Installation, wich will backup Netware CIFS shares. I have
mounted the shares with ncpmount wich is included in the ncpfs package. If i
start a job to backup the shares, i get a data rate of 5883.6 KB/s. If i start
a windows job i get a date rate up to 17000 KB/s wich is more faster than the
Netware job. Has anyone a hint why the Netware backup is so slow and how i get
more performance? Is the problem on the Netware side or on the bacula side?

Greets Jürgen

[Bacula-users] Bacula 5.2.11: Director crashes

2012-09-12 Thread Uwe Schuerkamp
Hi folks,

I updated one of our bacula servers to 5.2.11 today (CentOS 6.x,
compiled from source), but sadly the director crashes after a couple
of copy jobs which were due this morning. Any idea how to go about
debugging the issue?

The server has a dir-bactrace file, but it appears to be empty, also
the last couple of lines in the log file don't give away much beyond
the selected jobids for copying.

All the best,

Uwe

[Bacula-users] Rif: Re: How to configure schedule for run full the first weekend of the month??

2012-09-12 Thread Ferdinando Pasqualetti
Just to add something to the subject, you could schedule the first backup
on first friday and add the queueing of the other ones as RunAfterJob on
the dir system as a bconsole command.

If it is not clear enough tell me and I'll try to write a sample script.

 Hello Jeremy,

 I'm trying to do is run during the first weekend ( fri, sat and sun )
 all my full backups with the following schedule :

 Set backup1:
 Run=Level=Full 1st fri at 18:00
 Set backup2:
 Run=Level=Full 1st sat at 18:00
 Set backup3
 Run=Level=Full 1st sun at 18:00

 e.g. full backup for the month of September 2012 the execution would be:

 Backup1 - 7 September
 Backup2 - 1 September
 Backup3 - 3 September

 but I want this schedule:

 Backup1 - 7 September
 Backup2 - 8 September
 Backup3 - 9 September

I do not understand. See below my descriptions for your text from
previous mail.

Backup1 - 7  September == it is Friday (tomorrow)
Backup2 - 1  September == it is Saturday (past)
Backup3 - 3  September == it is Monday (past)

So could you explain us your need?

Maybe you are thinking about that this month has been started a week
ago. In this case, you can adjust your schedules for this month eg. by:

Schedule {
   Name = SomeSchedule1
   Run = Level=Full 2nd fri at 18:00
}

Schedule {
   Name = SomeSchedule2
   Run = Level=Full 2nd sat at 18:00
}

Schedule {
   Name = SomeSchedule3
   Run = Level=Full 2nd sun at 18:00
}

And in after this backups you can to set back your schedule on 1st days
of the month.

What do you think about that?

Regards.

[Bacula-users] Virtual Full for to different SD

2012-09-12 Thread Craig Van Tassle
Does a VirtualFull job have to be run on the same SD as where the Full
is?

I'm trying to save space in my offsite SD. I though that doing
VirtualFull's to the offsite might be the way to go. Has anyone done
this or does anyone have a better recommendation how to do this?

I cant just ship the tapes offsite. My Tape Library does not have
encryption abilities and that's a requirement for offsite access.

Hello Craig

As you know, Bacula can only do copies on a unique SD. You can not use
this feature over SDs. This said, and depending on you infrastructure,
if you have multiple partitions on storages on both sites, you should be
able to copy from site A to site B using this.
Enterprise version of Bacula has also a feature which may address this:
it let you share an autoloader over multiple SDs, but you have to pay.
(There was an offer to move from Community version to Enterprise.)

VirtualFull will never save space. It saves time and bandwidth.

 I cant just ship the tapes offsite. My Tape Library does not have
 encryption abilities and that's a requirement for offsite access.
Why don't you use encryption capabilities of Bacula ?

Sharing an autoloader across multiple SD is not going to help me.
I didn't think the VirtualFull would save me any space.

Using the encryption built in to bacula will take far to long for the
number and size of my backups. Also the management overhead of the
encryption is so much for my limited time.

The basic thing is I'm looking at using an offsite SD for DR backups.

You confirmed what I thought. Thanks.

A few hours later the bacula-dir crashed. This is on RedHat 6.3.

No traceback generated.
