Re: [Bacula-users] Client changes host name
Hello, 2013/8/6 vishal veerkar vishalveer...@gmail.com Below is my console config. Or can you share your running one. Console { Name = restricted-wintest Password = PASSWORD JobACL = Job_Restore_wintest, Job_Backup_wintest ClientACL = wintest This is a client, so a console has to have the same name - this is my experience. This is still giving me error Unauthorized command from this console. IMVHO, it is because console name and client name doesn't match. best regards -- Radosław Korzeniewski rados...@korzeniewski.net -- Learn the latest--Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, more! Hello, 2013/9/5 deepak@wipro.com Please send some command to test IBM tape backup manually before configuring bacula with it. ** ** I want to : ** ** **1. **transfer some data to ibm tape library disk drives ** I do not know what ibm tape disk dirives are, so could you send some info about it, please? 2. **see it there on disk drive **3. **restore data from disk drives to local / some other place ** ** please share some commands…! ** If this is a tape drive you should have a tape drive device on your Linux (right?) OS. So you can use a 'tar' command ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tar_(computing)) for archive or restore some files on tape. The most basic example: # tar cvf /dev/nst0 /home best regards -- Radosław Korzeniewski rados...@korzeniewski.net -- Learn the latest--Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, more! Hello, 2013/9/5 deepak@wipro.com Hi , ** ** I am using IBM TS3584 L53 LTO4 ** ** Below is the output for lsscsi –g command ** You do not have a proper device driver installed for your tape drivers. Check your log messages, etc. You should ask your OS vendor support or IBM support for that. Keep in mind that Bacula can't work with IBM lintape driver due a bug in the driver. I don’t have any /dev/nst0 device ** ** Trying to write something to /dev/sg* is very bad idea. [Bacula-users] Wake-on-LAN and bacula
My bacula installation supports night-time backups of several Windows machines (win7 and xp) that are typically suspended when the backups start from a Linux-based server. I made sure to enable Wake-on-LAN on all of the windows clients, and arranged a script to wake them, but Windows often believes that the machine is idle during a backup and the machines used to go down during a backup. I updated my python script to run a daemon process for each machine to keep them awake during backup, it is relatively short so I'm including it here, on the off-chance that it proves helpful to anyone--I'm happy to answer any questions about it. It is dependent on a library daemon.py (note: not the pending daemon PEP), that I downloaded here: http://www.jejik.com/articles/2007/02/a_simple_unix_linux_daemon_in_python, but I believe this github implementation would also probably work: https://github.com/stackd/daemon-py Note that the script does require your host-MAC address mapping, since the machines may be down, you can't just ARP for them (I use a python dictionary, but this could be extended to a db for those with larger sites--especially if you already track MAC addresses). To make a Windows machine do WoL, you likely will have to both configure WoL in the BIOS and also make a config change in windows on the LAN interface to enable WoL. Here's how I use my script in my bacula-dir.conf: RunBeforeJob = /etc/bacula/wake_up.py --daemon start %c RunAfterJob = /etc/bacula/wake_up.py --daemon stop %c I don't recall if this assumes that the hostname and the client name are the same, I suspect it does. -se -- They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. --Benjamin Franklin, 1759 wake_up.py Description: Binary data -- Learn the latest--Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, more! [Bacula-users] adding re-used tapes previously used on different tape drive
Thanks Patti, first, planning to relocate the tape in the import/export slot... not sure why i did not notice that..too occupied with the rest i guess..thanks for the HU! so the labels were created on a completely separate bacula installation so the labels are not in thie catalog on this machine... and no the labels were not removed previously. i was hoping that bacula might take care of that for me, but alas, no. i found a procedure to remove the labels via mtx-changer and did that for each of the slots needed. then issued the label barcode via bconsole and that seemed to work like a charm. This morning it looks like almost all the new tapes are showing...on missing is currently in the import/export slot and i plan on moving that this AM. +-- |This was sent by matt.arg...@currensee.com via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +-- -- Learn the latest--Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, more!
