Re: [Bacula-users] Changing and reloading query.sql

2018-12-05 Thread Wanderlei Huttel
Hello Chris

Are you sure you are using the correct query file?
I am running bacula 9.2.2 and do not need to reload bconsole. I only access
the bconsole again and run the command query

Best regards

Re: [Bacula-users] Nagios notification setup

2018-12-05 Thread Dmitri Maziuk via Bacula-users
Heh. There's a few "check-bacula-backup" plugins at nagios exchange, maybe I'll
take a look at some when I get a fresh supply of round tuits. A couple are
per-job/client and so should do per-host notification.

FWIW I use net-snmp to check/publish the number of relevant processes (incl.
bacula) in the mib and a little perl wrapper around snmpwalk on the nagios
side.

[Bacula-users] Changing and reloading query.sql

2018-12-05 Thread Christopher Sluman
Hi,

We are running Bacula 9.0.2 and I'm struggling to get /etc/bacula/query.sql to
reload after I've made changes. A simple reload from bconsole doesn't work. I
also tried stopping all bacula services, without success. The only thing that
worked was when I had to stop mysqld as well (due to a separate issue). Is
there a way to change and reload query.sql without stopping mysql?

You know, I might be missing something blindingly obvious here, but ...

I think something is wrong with this approach...

Bacula will send notifications, of course, but it happened to me several
times that a job got stuck and no further mail arrived.

Then it's up to me to notice their absence.

That's why I feel I need to complement that with Nagios (checking that
daemon *and* jobs are running).

Just my 2c.

I'm not doing any rocket science -- I'm simply monitoring to see if the

check_command                   check_service_by_ssh!bacula-dir

In order for this to work, it means that I, of course, set up ssh
between my nagios service and my bacula server.

I'm using a specific plugin for that, which connects directly to the
daemons with Bacula's own protocol.

This is the FreeBSD specific page:
https://www.freshports.org/net-mgmt/nagios-check_bacula9/

I'm not sure where they took it from, however.
