If both physical tape libraries has the same Media Type set to LTO5

If this is not possible (I think it is possible but impractical) then
you have to change a Media Type of the one tape library (and all its
 volumes).

Hi,

We use VMware Data Recovery (VDR) for this job. It's an application
which plugs into the vCenter.
You get deduplication and other fancy stuff with it. It is still under
development but works great
for us.
Don't use file based backup software like Bacula on vmdks: The backup
volume will kill you.
If you change one byte inside the VM you have to backup all of the
vmdk image which will be
substantially (!) larger.

for the second one priority = 12 and so on.

Very good idea. I thought about this and got to the conclusion that
this method does not scale too well: I would have to add an additional
(virtualFull) job for every client and coordinate all priorities of
these jobs: I.e. If I create a new client I need to check for a new, not
occupied priority slot. All in all I think this would work, but I am
not yet willing to give up in favor of a simpler solution I do not see.

Thanks for your answer.

[Bacula-users] Concurrent Jobs and multiple volume readers

2011-07-04 Thread Jan Behrend
Hello,

usually I do not have problem with concurrent jobs, because they
read/write from/to different pools. But when it comes to virtual full
backups I need to stop bacula from doing these jobs concurrently.
Is there a way to tell the bacula to do a certain type of job one at a
time even if the configured standard is to accept 12 jobs concurrently?
How is that done with copy/migration jobs e.g. The doc says there is a
management job which starts the actual copy/migration job. These run
one at a time just fine in my environment. How can I impelement this
behaviour for my virtual full jobs?

Any hints?
