I don't know what's going on last week. Because I didn't read every
mail. I'm very busy at the moment.
And I doesn't now very much about windows. Because I prefer linux.
Therefore I checked it on the vista machine here.
Here is the output from c:/>dir

But that doesn't look like "C:\Users is a symlink" for me.
For me it looks like c:\Documents and Settings are the symlink to
c:\Users.
And I read on Microsoft www site that they do this for some programs,
who will install into C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%, instead to ask
for %HOME%\%USER%.

That's what I've understood.

It looks like the same problem I have with bacula fd under vista.
Vista includes some pathes to be compatible with windows xp or older.
But that's not real pathes. It seems to be something like shortcuts.
And the bacula fd doesn't understand this technic.
I've excluded this pathes.

> 2) Is there a way to wildcard the username part in the FileSet?

Wildcard to include or exclude.

If include I think you only need c:/Users. This will backup the directory
C:/Users and all it's input.

FileSet {
  Name = "vista-files"
  Include {

  Compression=GZIP
  signature=SHA1

}
File = "C:/Users"

Ø  Maybe just try adding
  Runs On Client = No
in the RunScript section to be certain it runs on the server. I would think
that that would be the default but it sure is worth a test.
I presume "ClientAfterJob" has to do with running a script on the client after
the job.

I change the jobdefs. I added RunsOnClient=No.

Now it looks like this:

JobDefs {

  Name=mail_foo

  RunScript {

RunsWhen = After

RunsOnSuccess = Yes

RunsOnClient = No

Command="/usr/local/sbin/listing.sh %c %i %l f...@bar.de"

  }

}

And it seems to work.

Here the output of the bacula messages:

"/usr/local/sbin/listing.sh HOSTNAME 567 Full f...@bar.de"

25-Feb 15:48 backupserver-dir JobId 567: AfterJob: @output /tmp/HOSTNAME.txt

The file /tmp/HOSTNAME.txt exist.

I saw that our mailserver received a mail from backupserver for f...@bar.de.

So I think it works.

I couldn’t look into the usermailbox. Because the user isn’t in office.

Thanks for helping me.

[Bacula-users] ClientAfterJob: Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden.

2009-02-24 Thread KNOPS Manfred
Hello bacula-users-maillist,

The bacula directory runs on a openSuSE 11.0 x86_64 machine.

I have a problem with the job resource RunsOnSuccess.

I configured a RunsOnSuccess resource for some backups which backups
windows clients.

Here is the configuration:

JobDefs {

  Name=mail_foo

  RunScript {

RunsWhen = After

RunsOnSuccess = Yes

Command="/usr/local/sbin/listing.sh %c %i %l f...@bar.com"

  }

}

The shell script works. I tested it manually. The path /usr/local/sbin
are included in $PATH.

Then I tested it on one windows client. I called bconsole -c
C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application
Data/bacula/bconsole.conf and started a full job manually.

The backup starts and the files were backuped. But bacula didn't start
the script.

Therefore it send me following messages:

genesis-fd JobId 477: ClientAfterJob: run command
"/usr/local/sbin/listing.sh HOSTNAME-fd 477 Full f...@bar.com"

20-Feb 16:35 HOSTNAME-fd JobId 477: ClientAfterJob: Das System kann den
angegebenen Pfad nicht finden.

20-Feb 16:35 genesis-fd JobId 477: Error: Runscript: ClientAfterJob
returned non-zero status=1. ERR=Unknown error 20-Feb

"Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden" means that bacula
can't find the shell script."

Now my question.

What does it mean with ClientAfterJob?

Does bacula call the script on client side, on the windows machine?

The documentation says:

Runs On Success Yes/No Yes Run command if JobStatus is successful

Runs On Failure Yes/No No Run command if JobStatus isn't successful

Runs On Client Yes/No Yes Run command on client

Runs When Before-After-Always Never When run commands

Fail Job On Error Yes/No Yes Fail job if script returns something
differen

Command Path to your script

So I mean bacula should call this command on server side, not on client
side.

Regards

Manfred

[Bacula-users] Cannot find any appendable volumes.

2009-02-09 Thread KNOPS Manfred
Hello together,

I hope someone can help me.

Last Saturday bacula should make fullbackup for 22 clients.

It starts at 20:05 with the first client.

At Sunday morning 04:04 it send me messages like this:

08-Feb 04:04 backupserver-sd JobId 232: Job
helios-Automatic-Backup.2009-02-07_20.05.21 waiting. Cannot find any
appendable volumes.

Please use the "label" command to create a new Volume for:

Storage:  "helios-Device" (/backup/helios)

Pool: helios-Pool

Media type:   File

I have no idea where the problem is.

This job works fine last January.

Here is the job definition:

# /etc/bacula/helios-backup.conf

#

# Job definition for host helios

#

Job {

  Name = helios-Automatic-Backup

  Type = Backup

  Client = helios

  FileSet = helios-FileSet

  Schedule = WeeklyCycle

  Storage = helios-Storage

  Messages = Standard

  Pool = helios-Pool

}

The fileset definition:

#

# Fileset definition for host helios

#

FileSet {

  Name = helios-FileSet

  Include {

Options {

  signature = SHA1

  compression = GZIP9

  @/etc/bacula/excludedAbaqusFiles.conf

  }

File = /etc

File = /var/lib/ldap

File = /local/data/home

  }

}

The pool definition. It's the same definition like all other client pool
definition, excepting the hostname:

#

# Pool Definition for host helios

#

Pool {

Name = helios-Pool

Pool Type = Backup

Recycle = yes

AutoPrune = yes

Volume Retention = 1 months

Use Volume Once = yes

Maximum Volume Bytes = 4509715660.8

Label Format = "helios-"

Maximum Volumes = 31

}

The schedule definition:

## When to do the backups, full backup on first sunday of the month,

## differential (i.e. incremental since full) every other sunday,

## and incremental backups other days

Schedule {

  Name = "WeeklyCycle"

  Run = Full first saturday at 20:05

  Run = Differential second-fifth saturday at 20:05

  Run = Incremental monday-friday at 20:05

}

The job starts and generate some volumes.

list volumes jobid=232

Jobid 232 used 7 Volume(s):
helios-0331|helios-0332|helios-0333|helios-0334|helios-0335|helios-0336|
helios-0337

| JobId | Name| StartTime   | Type | Level |

422,492 | 31,446,205,296 | f |

This job should backup 70GByte files

5 T diskspace are enough, I think:

fileserver:/etc/bacula # df -h

FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on

/dev/sdb5 9,9G  3,3G  6,1G  35% /

udev  4,0G  164K  4,0G   1% /dev

/dev/sdb6 5,0G  164M  4,6G   4% /tmp

/dev/sdb7 207G  5,2G  191G   3% /var

/dev/sdc5 9,9G  2,9G  6,5G  31% /local/sdc

/dev/sdc6 5,0G  140M  4,6G   3% /local/sdc/tmp

/dev/sdc7 207G  4,8G  192G   3% /local/sdc/var

/dev/sda1 2,0T  237G  1,7T  13% /fileserverShare

/dev/sda2 6,0T  781G  5,0T  14% /backup

In www I red that I can fix this instead I prune some older volumes of
helios.

I did this. But nothing happens.

Then I red about storage deamon problems. So I restarted the storage
daemon.

After that, bacula stopped this job and started the next job.

Bacula directory and sotarge daemon are installed on the same machine.

An opensuse 11.0 x86_64 pc.

Bacula installed in version.

fileserver:/etc/bacula # rpm -qi bacula-mysql-2.4.3-1

URL : http://www.bacula.org/

Summary : Bacula - The Network Backup Solution

Description :

But it is the i586 package. Not the x86_64 version.

The x86_64 version didn't work on this machine.

I checked the number of volumes for other clients.

Other pools containes more volumes.

The volume number isn't  > 999.

After I restart the storage daemon it starts the next job. This job
generates a volume called john-0338.

This job was the second full backup job for this machine.

So, where is the problem?

I also installed this bacula version on a windows 2003 64bit server. There I
have no problems with VSS.

I research the net and found a thread. It explains differences about VSS under
win 2k3 and win 2k8 in 64bit version. It seems that win2k8 VSS can't handle
calls from a 32bit application.
http://www.nabble.com/VSS-failure-backing-up-Exchange-on-Windows-Server-2008-64bit-td18743108.html

Is there anyone who has the same problem?

Does a workaround exist for this problem?

What's with bacula version 2.5 beta? Does this work?

The communication between bacula directory and Clapton fileserver deamon
works.

But I have some problems with this client. That's the reason to ask if
someone can help.

The first schedule job run last night.

After that I got a mail. This mail contains messages like this:

Bacula has right. A Path with so much directories called Anwendungsdaten
didn't exist. The path is for example
c:/users/krug/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook/outlook.ost.

I made tests on this machine.

1.   c:/users/krug/AppData/Local>dir /A:H returns a dir called
Anwendungsdaten.

2. c:/users/krug/AppData/Local>cd Anwendungsdaten chaned into this
dir.

3.   c:/users/krug/AppData/Local/Anwendungsdaten>dir returns a info
that no file exist.

Now my question. Why should bacula backup this directory?

What can I do?

Regards

Manfred
