[Bacula-users] cancel more than one job

2012-05-29 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

When I change my Bacula configurations I have sometimes the problem,

that a list jobs show me 30 or more jobs with status running but I know,

they don't run, because the job date is some days ago. with cancel I

can only cancel one job after the other.

Exist there a possibility to cancel more than one job at a time?

E.g. cancel jobid=1500-1580

or

cancel jobid=1601, 1605, 1670,1678

I believe the following works:
Use the update volume command to set the Vol status to append. Then purge the
volume.

[Bacula-users] FW: max. 400GB on Tape

2012-05-16 Thread Robert Kromoser
Dear John.

On my tape(s) is the following description:
Tandberg Data LTO ULTRIUM LTO 5 Cartridge 1.5 TB, 3.0 TB UNCOMPRESSED.
Thus I think that is an LTO-5 Tape.

On the other hand there exists the same types of tapes from Tandberg as well
in another pool and this backups run very well.
So I think it could not be a problem of the scsi-bus, isn't it?

There is no place to configure to use the full capacity since tapes with hw
compression have no fixed full capacity. You could fit 800GB on one LTO5 tape
and 8TB on a second depending on how your data compresses. Just make sure
someone did not configure to stop after 400GB by putting limits on the volume
size in the Pool directive. Most likely your problem is you are using an LTO3
tape, possibly somehow have the tape partitioned or a tape error has occurred.
With tapes bacula writes to the tape until it hits its first error. When it
hits that error it marks the tape full. Check your dmesg for scsi errors.

[Bacula-users] max. 400GB on Tape

2012-05-16 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

We have our own physical backup server running Red Hat Linux 6 with
Bacula 5.0.3 to a Tandberg T24 Tape Library

with one LTO-5 Tape drive with an uncompressed capacity of 1.5 TB.

Only Bacula is writing to this no. No other application uses it.

When about 400GB capacity is reached, then tape will be marked full and
Bacula

switches to the next tape in the pool.

Where can I configure to use the whole 1.5TB capacity.

[Bacula-users] FW: cant get offline tape from drive in autochanger - [ SOLVED]

2011-07-21 Thread Robert Kromoser
Dear all.

I found out a trick on my autochanger.

For this I used the Tandberg Web functionality Tools->Move Media.

As source address I entered the address of the drive (in my case Element
ID 81)

and as destination address I entered slot 9 (in my case Element ID 9).
That works fine.

Than I ran a re-inventory on the autochanger.

Last but not least I started bacula again, started update slots in
bconsole and ran a label barcodes again.

The problem is solved.

[Bacula-users] cant get offline tape from drive in autochanger

2011-07-20 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi all.

After my tests are almost done with bacula and the Tandberg T24
autochanger now I erased the

contents of the tape A9 for using it in the production bacula
environment.

I did the following:

bacula stop

mtx-changer /dev/sg5 loadad 0 /dev/nst0 0

I got the Slot number 9 with the barcode label A9 is in the drive

mt -f /dev/st0 rewind

mt -f /dev/st0 weof

Now when I try to unmount the tape I got the following error message:

*unmount storage

Storage resource "storage": not found

The defined Storage resources are:

 1: File

 2: SugarCRM_Disk

 3: SugarCRM

 4: SAP

 5: SAP-Logs

 8: Windows

mtx: Request Sense: BPV=no

*

But if I try the mtx-changer command with the list option again, see
above, I still get the

Slot number 9 to be loaded.

I also see that the tape is in the drive in the Tandberg web view.

So now here are my question?

How can I unload the tape from the drive?

Is it a good idea to do a mt -f /dev/st0 offline?

Must I label the tape with the barcode A9 again after the mt -f
/dev/st0 weof?

Is it possible to do a label barcodes for only one tape?

/dev/sg1 instead of /dev/sg0.

Hi folks.

Does exist any archive function in bacula.

What do I mean?

On a Backup the backed up data from a Fileset will stay on the
filesystem after the backup.

With an archive function the backed up data from the Fileset will be
removed from the filesystem.

Does exist any configuration option for that?

[Bacula-users] FW: bacula-web error - [ SOLVED] - reason

2011-05-26 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi folks.

I found the following mistakes.

The parameter host must not be the real IP-Address of the host.

In my configuration it was

host = 192.168.100.93

That is wrong.

The try with

host = 127.0.0.1

brought the same error.

Only

host = localhost

works fine.

Additional the following was necessary.

In the parameter pass in /bacula-web/configs/bacula.conf

I had blank in "pass = ". After changing it to "pass =" without the
blank

at the end of the equal sign, then the error message disappears.

Solution without the apostrophes:

"host = localhost"

"pass ="

Now the Message

DB Error: connect failed

Is really solved.

System restart and now the error message won't come but I run in another
problem

But for this I will start a new thread.

Hi Davide.

A change of the host parameter to 127.0.0.1 has the same effect with the

Here the mysql variant:

Dear Jeremy.

I think, that I am not able to install bweb, because my yum search
on my CentOS 5.5 did not bring any results about the needed perl libs.
I tried the following:

yum search libgd-graph-perl
yum search libhtml-template-perl
yum search libexpect-perl
yum search libdbd-mysql-perl
yum search libdbd-pg-perl
yum search libdbi-perl
yum search libdate-calc-perl
yum search libtime-modules-perl

Each of these statements returned
No matches found for: ...

I also startet ./bweb/cgi/bweb.pl and got many, many errors.

If these libs are essential to install bweb then I won't be able to
do that.

Many thanks for your support and for the detailed installation
documentation.

I think I will better try bacula-web because Apache, Mysqld and PHP is
already
installed on my Bacula Server system.

I'm trying to restore a 3 month old backup, but the database says there
are no files to restore.

The strange thing is, I can _see_ the entries in the database for that
date and the full backup 10 days before.

Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour?

Remember that the retention period is counted from the time the last

may be too long.

[Bacula-users] Plugin not loaded ???

2011-05-23 Thread Robert Kromoser

Hi everybody.

I installed the win32 Bacula Client on a Windows Server 2003 System and
created a

client configuration on the bacula server CBCK0001-dir with the name
csapfaq0-dir.conf

In this configuration file I configured the plugin for the SAP Backup
using the MaxDB own command line

interface dbmcli.

Here is the Fileset.

# #---

# # Kinamu Fileset for all Backups

# #---

FileSet {

Name = SAP_Fileset_CSAPFAQ0

# enablevss = yes

Include {

Options {

compression = GZIP

signature = MD5

}

# File = C:/

# File = D:/

Plugin = "bpipe:/tmp/sap_maxdb_csapfaq0.db:dbmcli -d FAQ
-u USER,PWxxx -n 192.168.100.62 -uUTL -c backup_start
FAQ_PIPE1_Full:dbmcli -u UTL -u USER,PWxxx"

}

# Exclude {

# File = C:/pagefile.sys

# }

}

The command line is working properly when I run it in my shell.

When I start the Backup Job I will receive the following error message

[Bacula-users] FW: Backup NAS Storage - [SOLVED]

2011-05-20 Thread Robert Kromoser
Dear John.

Thx for your advice.

Now the NAS-Systems will be backed up over the bacula server.

I defined a new client named NAS1-fd which
points with the ip-address to the bacula server cbck0001-dir.

Then I created 2 shell scripts nas1_mount_shares.sh and
nas1_umount_shares.sh
which I configured in RunBeforeJob and RunAfterJob of the Job Direktive.
Unfortunately doesn't support our Buffalo NAS Systems no NFS thus I must
take a detour over the mount.cifs protocol.

I'm not a friend of cifs in a linux environment but what shall's.
It works.

Thanks a lot.

Can't you install a bacula-fd on the NAS or at least use a linux box
to connect to the NAS via nfs and backup that?

Does the local SYSTEM user have the drives mounted? Remember that the
SYSTEM user will not get the network drives that the logged in user
has.

[Bacula-users] Backup NAS Storage

2011-05-19 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everyone.

We have Terra NAS Storage boxes using the Windows Configuration on the
NAS.

The NAS shared folders are connected to a Windows Server 2003 server.

I created a fileset for Windows with the associate drive letters but the
backup don't

begins run. No files will be backed up.

I know that under windows I have to activate the VSS but I cannot do
that for a

Windows share and so I cannot enable VSS on this NAS shared folders.

Does anyone has an idea why this don't work?

[Bacula-users] Tape Volume used after Migration Jobs

2011-05-19 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

Is it possible that a tape volume used in a migration job can inherit
the parameter

Use Volume Once = yes which is set in the disk Pool but not

in the tape Pool?

Why I do ask that?

First I run some different backups (Full, Diff, Incr) and a little time
later

I run some migrations jobs which migrates the previous backup jobs
(written their

data do disk) to tape (LTO-5).

After running the migration jobs the Tape Volume
"Tape-Vol-SugarCRM-" will be

marked "Used" and the next job will ask for a new Tape.

The problem is that one LTO-5 tape has a size 1.5 TB but will be marked
"Used" after a few gigabytes.

Does anyone has an idea?

When I did a status client=CCRM0004-fd before the removal then I get

After restarting bacula and run a status client=CCRM0004-fd again then

Simply remove: /var/bacula/working/bacula-fd.9102.state,

If you check it with a hexdum you can find info below:

[Bacula-users] mysqldump and Full,Diff,Incr

2011-05-17 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

I have one question where I can't found any information in the bacula
documentation.

That is the configuration:

# #---

# # Kinamu Client Schdule for Backup

# #---

Schedule {

Name = SugarCRM_Backup_CCRM0004

Run = Level=Full mon-sat at 10:00

Run = Level=Differential mon-sat at 11:00

Run = Level=Incremental mon-sat at 12:00

Run = Level=Incremental mon-sat at 13:00

}

Storage {

Name = SugarCRM_CCRM0004

Address = CBCK0001

Device = SugarCRM_CCRM0004

Media Type = SugarCRM_CCRM0004

Password = "geheim"

}

# #---

# # Kinamu Volume Pool Definition

# #---

Pool {

Name = SugarCRM_CCRM0004

Use Volume Once = Yes

Pool Type = Backup

LabelFormat = "Disk-Vol-CCRM0004-"

Autoprune = Yes

Volume Retention = 2 hours

# Daily Incr Backup 6 the week 4 the month = 24

# Weekly Diff Backup = 5

# Monthly Backup 6

# Maximum Volume = 24+5+6=35

Maximum Volumes = 35

Maximum Volume Jobs = 1

Storage = "SugarCRM_CCRM0004"

Next Pool = "Tape"

Recycle = Yes

}

# #---

# # Kinamu Fileset for all Backups

# #---

FileSet {

Name = SugarCRM_Fileset_CCRM0004

Include {

Options {

compression = GZIP

signature = MD5

}

File = /var/www/html

File = /var/log

File = /opt

File = /etc

Plugin = "bpipe:/tmp/ccrm0004_mysql.sql:mysqldump -f
--opt --quote-names --databases mysql:mysql"

Plugin = "bpipe:/tmp/ccrm0004_sugarcrm520.sql:mysqldump
-f --opt --quote-names --databases sugarcrm:mysql"

Plugin = "bpipe:/tmp/ccrm0004_test.sql:mysqldump -f
--opt --quote-names --databases test:mysql"

}

Exclude {

File = /usr

File = /tmp

File = /proc

File = /sys

File = /.journal

File = /.fsck

}

}

# #---

# # Kinamu Full Backup

# #---

JobDefs {

  Name = "CCRM0004_JobDefs"

  Type = Backup

  Level = Full

  Client = CCRM0004-fd

  FileSet = "SugarCRM_Fileset_CCRM0004"

  Schedule = "SugarCRM_Backup_CCRM0004"

  Messages = Standard

  Pool = "SugarCRM_CCRM0004"

  Priority = 10

  Write Bootstrap =
"/tmp/backup/sugarcrm/CCRM0004-fd/backup/%c_Jobid_%i.bsr"

}

Job {

  Name = "CCRM0004_01_Backup"

  JobDefs = "CCRM0004_JobDefs"

  # Client Run After Job = "/usr/local/kinamu/bacula/bacula_full_run.sh"

}

And now my questions:

As you can see in the schedule will be startet the job one time as Full,
one time as Diff and two times as incr backup.

My understanding is OK for the filesystem backups like /var/www/html or
/var/log.

But what is about the mysqldump of my mysql databases.

Mysqldump usually dumps the whole database out to an *.sql file.

Thus the 4 Backup runs, see above, should have the same sizes (count of
bytes) of the *.sql files from the mysqldump and

different sizes (count of bytes) from the filesystem based backups like
/var/www/html.

Now my mysql databases on the client CCRM0004 show the following:

[root@CCRM0004 mysql]# du -h --max-depth=1 ./sugarcrm520 ./mysql ./test

411M./sugarcrm520

688K./mysql

4.0K./test

[root@CCRM0004 mysql]#

Then I did the mysqldump commands on the command line to get the real
file sizes:

[root@CCRM0004 mysql]# cd /tmp

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]# mysqldump -f --opt --quote-names --databases mysql
>mysql.sql

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]# mysqldump -f --opt --quote-names --databases
sugarcrm520 >sugarcrm520.sql

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]# mysqldump -f --opt --quote-names --databases test
>test.sql

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]#

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]# ls -l *.sql

-rw-rw 1 root root294271 May 17 12:16 mysql.sql

-rw-rw 1 root root 372155141 May 17 12:18 sugarcrm520.sql

-rw-rw 1 root root  1348 May 17 12:19 test.sql

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]# du -h ./*.sql

292K./mysql.sql

356M./sugarcrm520.sql

4.0K./test.sql

[root@CCRM0004 tmp]#

Question 1:

The mysqldump backups via the bpipe plugin should be every backup run a
full backup of the mysql database regardless which level will be used
from the schedule, isn't it?

Question 2:

When I do a list files jobid=

Then I get the following:

*list files jobid=13

Automatically selected Catalog: MyCatalog

Using Cat

[Bacula-users] Client saves old information

2011-05-17 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

For some test purposes I do often the following as described in the
bacula documentation:

cd /usr/local/bacula/bin

./bacula stop

./drop_bacula_tables

./make_bacula_tables

cd

rm -rf

mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind

mt -f /dev/nst0 weof

./bacula start

Now it should all removed and I can start with a fresh system.

The funny situation is that, that the clients must save information
about any old

backup run anywhere, but where?

When I did a status client=CCRM0004-fd before the removal then I get

the information about my runs in the last 3 days. 3 days ago were the
last removal.

Then I do the removal now.

After restarting bacula and run a status client=CCRM0004-fd again then I
will

get the information about old backup run 3 days ago as before the
removal.

Can anyone tell me where the bacula server or the bacula client is
storing

old information about old backup runs?

br Robert

[Bacula-users] Bacula variables in Names

2011-05-16 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everyone.

I read the manual bacula concepts and found the chapter variable expansion and
I tried

to use it in my configurations but it doesn't work as I would.

I would e.g. define

Schedule {

Name = "Backup_${Client}"

...

}

but it doen't work.

Then I tried to define

Schedule {

Name = "Backup_%c"

...

}

and it doesn't work as well.

I tried also

Storage {

Name = SugarCRM_$[CLIENT}_Full

...

}

but it doesn't work.

Another problem are the path definitions for the bootstrap files.

The most definitions are like

Write Bootstrap =
"/tmp/backup/sugarcrm/CCRMTEST/01_Full/CCRMTEST_Full_Jobid_%i.bsr

A better way would be a definition like that:

Write Bootstrap = "${BASEPATH}/%c/01_%{Level}/%c_${Level}_Jobid_%i.bsr

Is a definition like that possible???

Can anyone tell me how to use the variables in the bacula directives?

[Bacula-users] Full backup will not be idendtified - Problem solved.

2011-05-16 Thread Robert Kromoser

Hi Graham.

Yes, you are right.

When I wait for at least 5 minutes, the Differential Backup identifies the
previous

Full backup run and another 5 minutes ago the Incremental backup run identifies
the

previous Differential backup run.

The problem is solved now.

Thx for you support.

Does it find the full backup when you start the next job a long time later?

Bacula relies heavily on timestamps to determine the last full backup.

Therefore, a good thing to check is your clock and the times that are getting

written into your database.

You can use this SQL command to get a list of jobs and times:

SELECT JobId,Job,Level,StartTime,EndTime FROM Job;

[Bacula-users] Full backup will not be idendtified

2011-05-15 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi folks.

In my configuration I have 2 files per client.
One file contains the storage definition (Archive Device)
and one file contains the directory directives.
I use one fileset definition named "SugarCRM__Fileset" for
my three backup jobs SugarCRM_xxx_Full, SugarCRM_xxx_Diff
and SugarCRM_xxx_Incr where xxx is the name of the client.

When I start a Full Backup it will be terminated successfully.
When I start a Differential or Incremental backup immediate
following the Full backup then the Full backup won't be identified
and the Differential or Incremental Backup starts a Full backup again.

Does anyone know this problem?

[Bacula-users] FW: Archive Devices not created - Problem solved

2011-05-15 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

Some talks with John Drescher solved this problem.
I had always looked on the main firewall but I forgot to have a look
at the local linux firewall iptables.
After stopping the local iptables using "service iptables stop"
the bacula services were able to connect to the storge daemon,
the archive devices are be created and bacula works as designed.

Thx John.

[Bacula-users] Archive Devices not created

2011-05-13 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi Everybody.

I installed a new bacula 5.0.3 server on CentOS 5.5.

In my configuration I use only disk backups.

When I start a backup with bconsole run command, the volumes will be
created in the catalog

but won't be created on the filesystem and the jobs are remaining with
status R.

Does anyone why?

[Bacula-users] bootstrap files and volume rentention

2011-05-04 Thread Robert Kromoser
Hi everybody.

I have a question about the bootstrap files.

In a job I always use, of course, the Write Bootstrap directive to
create a

Bootstrap file per backup run.

In my Pool I defined a Volume Retention = 30 days.

Now my question:

After the Volume Retention Period is over and the volume will be
recycled,

will the prune and recycle of the volume also remove the Bootstrap File
as

defined in the Write Bootstrap directive or do I have to remove the no
longer

used Bootstrap Files by myself via shell script?

Hi everybody.

I am not able to run 2 bacula jobs from 2 different clients at the same
time.

As described in the bacula concepts documentation I created for both
clients

an own device in the sd.conf files.

Then I created for both client an own storage and an own pool in the
dir.conf files and in the

Pool I use different volume label formats.

When I start the first job on the first client (ccrm0004) it's getting
the status R (running).

But if I start immediately a second job from the second client
(ccrmtest), then bacula sets

the status to C (Created, but not running).

Does anyone know what I did wrong?

I attached the config files to the email.

[Bacula-users] More installation guides for web tools

2011-04-06 Thread Robert Kromoser
Dear all.

I installed Bacula 5.0.3 with BAT successfully on my CentOS 5.5 x86_64
system and it works fine.

Now I want to install the web based tools like bweb, bacula-web,
brestore and so on.

There are insufficient installation descriptions about those tools to
configure, make and

last but not least to include it in an apache web server.

The Wiki on www.bacula.org has no information about that.

Is there anyone who can send me links for a better description?
