If no changes were made to Bacula config, then investigate the last part
of that error message "networking messed up". This could be firewall
settings on either Dir or SD, SD daemon is not running, network hardware
issue such as a switch's configuration, etc.

Verify bacula-sd and bacula-dir are the same version. The *same* version is
important.

Verify bacula-sd is running at support.lst.tfo.upm.es
.

From the bacula-dir server, can you 'telnet support.lst.tfo.upm.es
 9103'?

It should look something like this:

$ telnet crey 9103
Trying 10.55.0.10...
Connected to crey.int.unixathome.org .
Escape character is '^]'.
TYPE SOMETHING
again
again
Connection closed by foreign host.

If all of the above work, have a look through my blog post with respect to
names and passwords. It appears you have something wrong between
bacula-dir.conf and bacula-sd.conf on the bacula-sd box.

Did you use an external ipaddress for the SD? I mean 127.0.0.1 or
localhost will not work if you want to backup more than the server
that bacula is on.

You probably do not have a valid bacula-fd.conf in the directory that
bacula expects. Run it directly from the command line and see what
message it returns.

John,

Thanks for the reply. I do see the default value of 20 max connections in the
bacula-sd.conf file. Previously I had played around with having the SDAddress
in bacula-sd.conf set to 127.0.0.1 and my FQDN. However, I saw something on a
post that suggested commenting it out. And in response to your question, the
SD, DIR and FD are on the same machine.

Thanks,

[Bacula-users] bacula storage daemon connect problem.

2010-06-07 Thread Jeremiah D. Jester
Hello,

I'm a bacula newbie and having a problem resolving the following error:

07-Jun 14:40 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: authenticate.c:120 Director
unable to authenticate with Storage daemon at
"bacula.microslu.washington.edu:9103". Possible causes:
Passwords or names not the same or
Maximum Concurrent Jobs exceeded on the SD or
SD networking messed up (restart daemon).
Please see
http://www.bacula.org/en/rel-manual/Bacula_Freque_Asked_Questi.html#SECTION00376
 for help.

The link above no longer works and have done a bit of googling w/o any success.
The max connections is set to 100 in bacula-dir.conf and the passwords in
bacula-sd.conf match bacula-dir.conf. I've verified that I can telnet to port
9103. Have restarted the daemons (dir,sd,fd) multiple times.

[r...@monk bacula]# telnet bacula.microslu.washington.edu 9103
Trying 10.200.1.11...
Connected to bacula.microslu.washington.edu (10.200.1.11).
Escape character is '^]'.

Iptables is not enabled. Appreciate your input.

Thanks,
JJ

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula storage daemon - didn't accept device filestorage command - segmentation fault

2006-11-13 Thread Marcus Hallberg
HI!

I have come across the same problem... I am to on a gentoo system and I
am running 1.38.9 on a amd64.

My bacula configuration has been working almost perfectly for a long
time and today realized that all of my jobs that would have been run
last night had status error and the description was:

Storage daemon didn't accept Device "computerDir" command.
and the SD has died.

I can still restore from the SD. I restored and compared configfiles
from before and there is no difference... I have been running 1.38.9
since july whith no significant problems.

The problem arouses every time I try to run a job from console.

Any input would be greatly apprecciated.

/marcus

[Bacula-users] Bacula storage daemon - didn't accept device filestorage command - segmentation fault

2006-10-13 Thread Claudinei Matos

Hi,

I have a bacula setup on my network with a director, some clients and a
storage machine. Everything works fine (except for some troubles with
automatic labels), but now I want to add another storage with a DVD
recorder.
Well, I did setup the DVD storage like the examples found over the site
documentation but always when I do try to run the backup job I get an
error that which says "Storage daemon didn't accept Device "FileStorage"
command." and then bacula-sd dies with signal 11 (SEGMENTATION FAULT)
Since even trying some different configurations did not solve the
problem I'd tried to copy the working storage configuration just
changing the necessary parameters (like name, etc) but even with a
configuration that works on the other storage, I can't get my new
storage to work.
I'd started to think that maybe I have some problem with my installation
and since I do use gentoo I'd completely removed bacula installation and
"compiled/installed" a new one, but again, the same problems.

Since my configuration files are corrects I do not past they here but
just the daemon debug messages when I run the job from director:
