Also sometimes you'll need to take the tape offline first if you want to do any changer operations outside of bacula. mt -f /dev/st0 offline usually helps when mtx won't play nice (insert your appropriate tape device above). The medimux is the changer. Next is to use /dev/tape/by-id/ instead /dev/sgX in the Bacula config with the matching device ID, so no trouble with udev.
