Did you compile Bacula with readline support? Kern said in another mail that you need this for tab-completion support in bconsole. This is from Debian's repository and it seems like it was compiled with readline because it is working. It does not say in the 5.0.x manual that it is there, but it does say it in the 5.1.x manual, hence the confusion.
