The issue is not backslash v forward slash. Can we see the relevant 
Storage and Job resources in your bacula-dir.conf, as well as the 
appropriate Device section of the bacula-sd.conf on the Windows machine? 
Take out the passwords in what you send us.

Yes it does. The linux-dir was able to access the directory but 
was not about to create a volume for the backup because as you can see from the 
error, it's using the linux / instead of the windows \

Those look fine to me - they match the config I have using a Linux (RHEL4) 
director and XP SD and FD. Check the permissions on E:\BACKUP - make sure 
that the user that bacula is running as her permission to write to the 
directory.

Bacula is running as root on the linux machine. I really don't know what
user permission to set the folder to. Can you offer more detail.

Never mind, got it to work. Thanks for the suggestion. 
I also have another problem. Ever since I upgrade to 2.0.3, I was using
linux fc6 as the dir and sd but the sd folder is a map network folder off a
windows xp. 
Now whenever I do a backup of a windows machine, the backup volume turn out
to be twice the size of the data, and I have gzip in place. I'm hoping by
setting the window xp as the sd machine will resolve this. Do you have any
experience with this problem?
