Re: Recommendation of Roy Mottahedeh's Introduction on jurisprudence
Dear all, For those requiring some more material by the late Muhammad Baqir as-Sadr and other Islamic Scholars, the following website is recommended: http://al-islam.org/alpha.php MonderBrent Poirier Attorney at Law <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Roy Mottahedeh's translation of Muhammad Baqir as-Sadr's "Lessons in Islamic Jurisprudence" was published by Oneworld. Re: Mashriqu'l-Adkhar
Saturday, April 22, 2006, 14 Jalál 163 BE Chase, A quick search turned up these two extracts. I have your favor of April 10th, telling of your visit with the German Architect, Prof. Dr. Bartning, and his explanation to you of the elements to be incorporated in the new Temple for Germany. The Beloved Guardian explains that there is no requirement for one window to be oriented toward the East. In fact, he feels this should not be done; otherwise it will take on a practice of the Moslems with regard to their prayer niche, etc. I am sending a copy of this note to the German NSA, so they will understand. The Guardian has also indicated that there is nothing in the teaching requiring one dome for the building, in fact, any dome. It is of course more beautiful, generally to have a dome, or even domes, but that is not a necessary requirement of the Temple. Likewise the Guardian indicates, it is not essential that there be nine doors. The real requisite is that the building should be circular in shape, having nine sides; that there should be nine gardens, walks, etc... (Shoghi Effendi: Light of Divine Guidance Vol.1, Page: 232) "Nine is the highest digit, hence symbolizes comprehensiveness, culminations; also, the reason it is used in the Temple's form is because 9 has exact numerical value of `Baha' (in the numerology connected with the Arabic alphabet) and `Baha' is the name of the Revealer of our Faith, Baha'u'llah. The 9-pointed star is not a part of the teachings of our Faith, but only used as an emblem representing `9'. In telling people of the 9 religions of the world, that is `existing religions, we should not give this as the reason the Temple has nine sides. This may have been an idea of the architect, and a very pleasing idea, which can be mentioned in passing, but the Temple has 9 sides because of the association of 9 with perfection, unity and `Baha'." (Shoghi Effendi: Directives of the Guardian, Page: 52) David Dear list, I am serving at the House of worship in India and have been asked to prepared a training course for the volunteers serving here. I am doing research on the Mashriqu'l-Adhkar but I cannot fine an explain for why it has nine sides. My understanding is that it has to do with the numerical value of baha. I am also wondering is anyone can tell me where I can fine guidelines given. I know these are probably every easy found on ocean but I have very limited computer access. Whoso claimeth a revelation direct from God
There's a question I just thought of. The Aqdas states that no one will come in the next thousand years with a revelation direct from God. The latter three words are important qualifiers, as 'Abdu'l-Baha did have a revelation, just not direct from God. It's my understanding that minor Prophets also have a revelation, but not direct from God. If that is so, is there any reason why a minor Prophet could not come during the next thousand years?
