Dear Hasan,

How about a bit more context? What kind of a list was this where the
statement was made? Was it Baha'i or non-Baha'i? As Baha'is we believe
the Manifestations are omniscient at will because the Guardian said
so. But there is certainly no proof for that.

Dear Hasan,

I found the statement you were referring to on the other list. It was
made by an ex-Baha'i who does not accept the authority of letters
written on the Guardian's behalf. But since that list has a no-
forwarding rule we should probably not be discussing those threads
here.

re: historical accuracy, Prophets' omniscience and reliability

2007-05-22 Thread firestorm
it's very tenablebut not testable unless there is an proven omnciscient
Source to test against.
imho the confusion between the 2 statements is a headgame a lot of materiallly
oriented people play.
on another angle, the Prophets Omniscience wil include "what people think is
true"--which can be seen in a Statement in which the Blessed Beauty talks about
seeing tablets of chrysolite bearing whatever He needed to know
the issue is that what He needed to know would be what people were thinking
as true, so that such could be Corrected.
this is sperate from what is True, which is, by definition, above understanding
except as a transitory local event.
i am very, very fond of the Lawh-iHimat as an example of this in action,
and have been in countless discussions about who Idris is, etc.
generallly, when people tell me that Baha'u'llah said something not
"factuallly" true, i am hearing about their belief systems...not about
Baha'u'llah.
