[BAROQUE-LUTE] Re: Rank Amateur Recording # 4

Very nice, Stephen. Working your way to a complete recording of the Barbe?
Why not? Seriously, that is a beautiful piece. Your playing gets better with
each recording. You seem to be relaxing more with each piece, getting used
to the microphone, listening to the music more. Keep up the good work.

[BAROQUE-LUTE] Rank Amateur Recording # 4

2008-02-29 Thread Stephen Arndt
Dear Lutelist,

I have been playing through the Barbe Manuscript and marking the pieces I want
to come back to. I still have another thirty pages to go, but I recently found
a piece I really liked, an Allemande by Dubut, and decided to try to record it.
It is on page 192 of the manuscript and on page 171 of my pdf facsimile. I
never know what the correct tempo is, and I suspect that I am playing it too
slowly, but that is about as fast as my fingers will go. As usual, the rhythm
is off here and there and the tempo is not too constant (especially
embarrassing for a drummer). I have greatly appreciated your critical comments
in the past and, of course, would be happy to receive them again.

Best wishes to all,
