Re: [Basfa] WTF? Money I forgot I had! (unclaimed.org)
Good to know. My late parents let some of their business slide into escheatment and I was not aware of the national registry. It's best to not to die before claiming it as it's going to be hassle to claim it now; it's going to require legal documents for me to do it. I knew I sometimes misplaced things, but I thought I kept pretty good track of my money. Today I found a tip in AARP Magazine. I went to unclaimed.org (the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators) and filled out a short form; in well under 10 minutes had found two checks totaling about $150 that I didn't remember anything about. It might be a little more annoying if you need to look under multiple names or in multiple states, or if you have a common name. Good luck! Let people know. I hope it's an amount worth the hassle, and that you don't have too much to pay in legal fees. Live long and prosper -- Kennita On 4/10/19 12:40 PM, Adrienne Foster wrote: Good to know. Also see: California's Unclaimed Property Search page: https://ucpi.sco.ca.gov/ucp/ I've recovered about $600, and have lines on about $300 more in California alone. Try several name configurations, i.e.: Bob Simpson Robert Simpson Robert E Simpson Robert E Simpson Jr Don't forget to try searches with no City and with different cities you may have lived in as well. Many other states have similar programs. -- Bob Simpson ___ Basfa mailing list Basfa@lists.basfa.org http://lists.basfa.org/listinfo.cgi/basfa-basfa.org
