Re: Appending results

2011-04-08 Thread Mark Simpson

I just grabbed v2.36 from CVS and gave it a try - it does indeed do the
append results thing as advertised. Something must have gotten
fixed/changed between v2.35 v2.36.

Thanks for the pointer to the new version.

Ciao
Mark

Appending results

2011-04-06 Thread Mark Simpson

Hello,

I'm using BBDB 2.35 and ran into a small problem. Probably user error
but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

Say I have two records, Bob Alice and I want to bring them up together
so I can then easily send them both an email.

I had thought I could search for Bob, then hit '+' to run
bbdb-append-records, then run bbdb again and search for Alice. This
resulted in a buffer with just Alice in it, Bob's record was cleared
out.

I also tried using bbdb-name thinking that something in bbdb
specifically cleared out the buffer but it also replaced the buffer with
the new contents.

Am I doing something wrong? Or am I misunderstanding what
bbdb-append-records is for?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Are you sure it's cleared out? + works for me as you expect it to, but it
always seems to scroll the buffer such that the appended record is shown. M-
(beginning of buffer) or C-l (recenter) solves it.

I just tried it again and it is definitely replacing the contents of the
buffer with the results of the new search.

Are there any hooks which the bbdb command might run that would clear
out existing results? I don't think I have very many BBDB settings so
I'll check that out.

Not likely. I certainly am not doing anything special to enable it. I see you
said you're running 2.35. I'm using 2.36 from the CVS repository on
sourcefore. Perhaps there's a bug fix there.
