Re: Tag maker always uses tabs, ignores auto-expand setting

Luke~

Have you tried using "Text" -> "Detab..." from the main menu? That strips tabs
from a file. Note, however, that if you use some value other than BBEdit's
default of "4" as the number of tab spaces to be "detabbed," you will need to
adjust the tab value in "View" -> "Text Display" -> "Show Fonts" to match your
detabbing intention. That's a manual procedure, though, which means you'll have
to do that manually for each file you want to detab.

Thanks!

To the good folks at Barebones,

I just wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying the new Live Search
bar. I often need to find places to work within a document, but I also
need to use the search and replace dialog for more powerful and useful
things that I want to retain for a while during a work session. Using
the Live Search bar for lcoating myself is extremely handy. And I just
discovered that, if I split the window pane in order to do some cut
and paste without losing my place, the live Search will restrict
itself to just the current pane. Delightful!

Thank you for such an excellent product.

And now, about that iPad I'll be getting soon. ... ;-)

Rob

Tag maker always uses tabs, ignores auto-expand setting

2010-06-21 Thread Luke Andrews
I'm at a work environment which uses only spaces in version control,
never tabs. I've set BBEdit to auto-expand tabs, and this works fine
for the most part, but if I ever use the HTML/CSS Markup tools, my
spaces all get converted to tabs. An example: I'm editing a CSS file,
and I use the Edit Tag command to edit a particular rule, like
background-image. When I click Apply, BBEdit re-indents all of the
rules within the current block with tabs.

Is there some way to fix this? I've checked all of the settings: the
global setting, the document setting, the language setting: all of
them are set to auto-expand tabs, but I still get tabs.
