Sooo, I haven't done this in a while, but the other thing the ascii palette let you do was highlight a character in a document and then see what it is... Is there an equivalent of that? Of course :-) Select the character(s), and then choose the Character Inspector from the Palettes menu, and you'll see the representations of the selected character(s) in Hex, Decimal, Escaped, and Unicode formats. I don't follow how leaving the system character viewer open (once customised) and using that is more convoluted than leaving BBEdit's open and using it?
