Sometimes I use Transmit for just this, I launch Transmit, browse and find the files I want to edit and just double-click on them to open them in BBEdit. For example: the last month or so I've been coding using Haskell, I haven't bothered to install Haskell on my machine instead I connect the a linux box using Transmit, edit in BBEdit and run the programs via iTerm.

Same thing for come course web sites, host on linux, edit in BBEdit.

(For some reason I've never gotten around to using the built-in SFTP feature in BBEdit)
