Copy markdown as HTML

2022-11-07 Thread Frank Eves
Markdown focused applications like iA Writer, Marked2 and Ulysses have an
Edit Menu item 'Copy as HTML'. I find it handy when creating WordPress
content. Unfortunately, for my purposes, BBEdit's Edit menu's 'Copy as
Styled HTML' outputs more complex text. Can someone suggest an easy way to
copy markdown as basic HTML in BBEdit?

Shortcut for inline markdown link creation

2020-05-06 Thread Frank Eves
I'd love to have an AppleScript shortcut for creating an inline markdown
link with BBEdit. Has anyone created a script that does this?

[Title Text](Link URL)

- surround currently selected text with brackets
- copy Link URL from clipboard, surround with parentheses and place
immediately following closing bracket

Wow, 'Process Duplicate Lines…' is simple, but very powerful. Thank you BARE
BONES! To clarify my use of 'Wow', popping someone's dislocated shoulder back
into place in the ER ellicits a similar 'Wow' from the patient. :) Thanks Sam,

Eliminate duplicate quotations

2016-05-20 Thread Frank Eves
I have a quotations file (< 6000 lines 364 KB) that looks like this:

---
"The universe is not only queerer than we suppose. It's queerer than we can
suppose." -- Albert Einstein

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as if everything is a
miracle, and the other is as if nothing is." -- Albert Einstein
---

I know some/many of the quotations appear more than once. I'd like to eliminate
the duplicates. Assuming those duplicate lines are exactly the same, is there
any possibility that 'Process Duplicate Lines…' can save me a lot of time? If
not, can anyone suggest a feasible solution?

Cheers,
Frank

Re: Change default extension

2015-11-06 Thread Frank Eves
Thanks :) Until recently, I've always used '.txt' but a markdown app called
Texts
and this post
got me thinking about using '.text' and so far OS X finder's QuickLook, Atom
Editor, BBEdit, Byword, Smultron, Sublime Text, TextMate and Ulysses handle the
new extension nicely. Time will tell.

Change default extension

2015-11-06 Thread Frank Eves
How do I change BBEdit's default, plain text extension from '.txt' to '.text’?

OS X El Capitan 10.11.2
BBEdit 11.1.3

Re: Change default extension

2015-11-06 Thread Frank Eves
Like you, I've used personal computers for a day or two. :) My first home
computer was a CP/M machine that used the 8.3 filename format, so, yes, I'm
familiar with '.txt'. No argument that the '.txt' extension is the standard;
that said, this is 2015, not the 1970s and I'd like to use '.text', so my
question remains… My hunch is that you're correct, setting a language type that
uses '.text' may be what I'm looking for. Is that the way to go?

Re: Reset untitled text ## numbering

2013-10-02 Thread Frank Eves

I apologize for my delay responding, I've been hospitalized.

Here's what Patrick wrote, First, BBEdit will automatically increment
each new document's (ID) number until you quit and relaunch it, and
there's no separate option for doing so.

Next, BBEdit will by default always preserve unsaved changes across a
quit and relaunch, and this process will also preserve the titles of any
open, unsaved documents. If however you do not want BBEdit to preserve
unsaved changes, you can prevent this by turning OFF the option to
Restore unsaved changes in the Application prefs panel.

Last, I do suggest using BBEdit's global scratchpad instead of
individual unsaved documents for the sort of task you describe, and
please note that if you wish, you can assign a key shortcut to the
Scratchpad window via the Menus Shortcuts prefs pane. (I've done this
myself and find it very handy.)

Reset untitled text ## numbering

2013-07-17 Thread Frank Eves
BBEdit has recently reemerged as my favourite text editor.

My habit is to:
- hit command + n
- type and edit a little
- select all
- copy the text to another application
- delete the untitled file.

BBEdit has been autosaving my untitled files and incrementing the untitled text
## file names. How do I reset my untitled file numbers to zero?

I suspect I should be using BBEdit's Scratchpad for this type of quick editing?

Cheers, Frank
