Re: Is it possible to Copy contents of multiple files at once?

2022-11-08 Thread a k
Hey All - Thanks to the suggestions everyone gave. On the off chance
someone is looking for an even quicker solution. I've just discovered you
can simply drag and drop your desired files into an edit window and it will
paste all the contents in. Perhaps this may not be a solution for everyone
but it works well for my application! Also in the off chacne you are
copying/pasting into something like JSFiddle - you can drag and drop
straight into that and it will paste the contents. Probably shouldve
figured that one out sooner.

2022-10-20 Thread a k
Absolutely agreed - its doing wonders for helping cut down time on
repetitive tasks that I do for work. For this task alone what used to take
30 strokes/mouse clicks to achieve now takes me maybe 5. Multiply that by
the hundreds of times I have to do it per weekIts an absolute
lifesaver. Kudos to everyone on the BBEdit team.

Grep help - removing text within a tag

2022-10-10 Thread a k
Hey all,

I'm looking to use grep to remove text contained within a tag (including
the tag itself). More specifically - I need to find and remove a bunch of
iframe tags from multiple .txt files.

Here's an example tag:

*https://website.com/1.0/ifr?zid=123456=${CACHEBUSTER}_imp=${AUC_ID}=${CLICK_URL_ENC}&;

frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="123" height="456">*

because the zid, width and height always differ and appear in other places
in the document (that need to be preserved) I cant do a regular find and
replace.

a complete beginner to BBEDIT and grep so apologies if this question is a
bit remedial. I have bunch of code cleanup tasks that are very repetitive
and I'm confident could be solved with grep, just not 100% sure how to go
about it.

BBEdit 13.5.2 : "Compare" features not highlighting difference

2020-11-19 Thread Leng K
I upgraded to version 13.5.2 lately and since then, I've not been able to
get the compare feature to shows the differences in copy content on 2 HTML
files or text file. It'll only highlight only 1 word at top.

I often have 2 new files open (without saving them) and pasted the 2 copy
into the working file and select 'Compare' via selecting the 2 files to
compare.

No setting has been changed during the upgrade. Does anyone know what's
causing this?

Thanks.

Can't resize open files sidebar?

2020-04-02 Thread K matt
Currently on BBEdit 13.0.6 on macOS 10.14.6, for a few releases of v13 I
have been unable to widen the open files sidebar. Uncertain of which
version this started with.

When I attempt to drag it to the right, I get a beach ball for about a
second, and the bar moves maybe one pixel, no matter how wide I attempt to
drag the separator bar.

Any setting that may be preventing it from changing?

multi-file find not using filters properly?

2013-08-29 Thread K Fancy
I've recently upgraded from 9.x to 10.x, and have found that the multi file
find command just does not operate like it used to.

Previously in version 9, if I set up a filter that states (paraphrase):

only look at files with extension .html

and then search with that filter chosen, then it would only search in
*.html files.

However in version 10.x (I have latest, just upgraded to make sure) it
seems to ignore the filters and searches through every. single. file.
regardless of the filter settings.

I also tried re-creating some filters, thinking perhaps the 9.x filters
were not compatible with 10.x, but that didn't work either.

Is this a known bug, or is there something that needs to be done in version
10.x to activate the filters properly?

Another semi-related issue, it seems that BBEdit can easily get hung up on
a file during multi-file search, and it will never move beyond that file.

Re: BBEdit looks quite bad on Retina MBP

2012-06-16 Thread mason k
Personally I find it annoying that Apple deprecated Carbon. The constant
deprecations create an annoying gerbil wheel which sucks up a lot of dev
cycles that could be spent on far more interesting things.

Apple's shitastic backwards compatibility policies are one of the main
reasons I've stayed off of actually developing apps for my favorite
platform. It's a bag of hurt, to quote someone famous.

But Carbon apps can still render text in crisp mode. My guess is something
in this http://osdir.com/ml/general/2012-06/msg24720.html or in the
subsequent formal documentation that he promises is going to have the fix.
Unfortunately, when I tried his suggestion of changing AppleMagnifiedMode
to false, but it didn't change BBEdit. For a second there, I really
thought it was going to be that easy.

The best scaling factor is actually the second largest for my chosen

For now I am experiment with other options, such as keeping BBEdit on
the second monitor, and (shudder) TextMate (which looks flawless at
 all scalings).

I have complete faith in BareBones that they're going to fix this
issue. I am nervous about the timeframe, though, since replacing the
rendering engine has the potential to be a monstrous task.

 Best regards,

That's interesting. Most other apps that use Apple's text rendering look
fantastic at all scalings. You're really just using the Cocoa text
rendering API to render?

Do you know why BBEdit is locked into running in low resolution mode on
this computer? Run in Low Resolution is checked and disabled in Get Info.

You will probably have to report a bug to Apple; it's their text renderer.

Re: BBEdit 9.5

2010-04-28 Thread Gabriel K
If you did like me and overwrote your copy of 9.3.1 with 9.5 before
reading that Tiger was no longer supported, you can download 9.3.1
again from http://pine.barebones.com/updaters/BBEdit_9.3.1.dmg

  BBEdit 9.5 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later (10.5.8, 10.6.3 or

I am a long-time user of BBEdit, and I am very disappointed that 9.5
 is not compatible with Tiger.

Re: FTP of files - tabs?

2009-10-22 Thread Gabriel K

You can go to the Text menu and select Detab... to translate the
tabs into spaces (Entab... will do the reverse).

As far as I know, BBEdit won't just insert a tab nor translate
something as a tab unless it's already present or you type it.

Does BBedit do anything when opening/saving a file from a Unix server?
It appears that when I open/save a csv file some of the data that has
embedded spaces show as a tab.
example: unix data contains 1234        0001 which shows up when I
turn invisibles on as 1234tab  0001.

Is this correct? Is there a way to not use tabs here?
 Thanks.
