In a number of them I was using the placeholders to aid in the selection of text portions that were to be optionally present. The initial intention of the script was to simply remove BBEdit placeholder delimiters from around the selected text, e.g. <#label#> => label Naturally I got carried away and added more features :-) As a side note, for the sake of it being possible, I really wanted to do this with JavaScript (as now enabled in Yosemite), but failed to even get the basics of getting and setting the selection working.
