Re: Multi-File search inside an ePub

2012-09-06 Thread Watts Martin
I'd presume Gary was asking about doing that when you've opened an ePub
file directly. BBEdit opens them the same way it opens a .zip file, and
that's not the same way it opens an actual folder on disk. You can only
have one file open at a time and multi-file search in the ePub/zip
doesn't work. You can always unzip the ePub to a separate folder, of
course, but then you have to make sure to re-zip it correctly and it's a
bit of a pain.

BBEdit is great for doing touchup work for ePubs, though.

It's not clear though what is stopping you from doing a multi-file
search. Open multi-file search window; select folder containing your
html ebub files and start the search. Why is that not working for you?

Seems not many ask about this. I use BBEdit mainly for ePubs and this
would help a lot. It's amazing this seems to be the only decent editor
that can open ePubs but working with them sure could be nicer. If
someday there's more, like a preview tab (like Coda) where it'd
display the page (knowing what style sheet to use), or even the whole
ePub, with TOC and all, that'd be amazing.

A modern modern UI with some features like a search box for the
current project (to filter and find files) would be nice too. :)
