Hey Jan,

Been a while...  :)

BBEdit will do this after a fashion.

Make a vertical selection and then type something.

Unfortunately the feature does not handle discontiguous selections, so its 
utility is limited (for now).

I do think it foreshadows things to come though.

Since I don't use Xcode, what does this feature do? (I got a picture of 
how it works in my mind ... but my idea is just silly)
