On Fedora 9/ 10, CentOS 5 and Ubuntu 8.04 I had to use ndiswrapper for this
chipset using the driver came for Windows XP.
This WLAN card came with my Dell Vostro 1400.
With the latest Ubuntu or Fedora 11 I have not tried yet.
What Salahuddin showed regarding chipset type is correct.

In Debian based system you can
# lsmod (check the modules used by your system)
# lspci (check the device details)
I found you card might be
0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev
01)
Subsystem: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card
So try loading the Broadcom module
b43 - Broadcom
or
b43legacy - Broadcom

Check which module is used by the 2.6.8-11 for your wifi.
Try to load it in 2.6.8-13 (some time several modules merge into a
single modules or change its name) check about that, also he release
notes of 2.6.8-13 ?
And let me know your wifi chip name ?
