  Dear Friends,

There is a bill in committee to restrict alternative healing modalities.

If you are a practitioner or recipient (consumer) of the following
healing
modalities this bill affects YOU, as A8704 states:

  INCLUDING, BUT  NOT LIMITED TO: accupressure, asian healing practices;
  Anthroposophy (Rudolph Steiner methods); Cranial Sacral Therapy;
culturally
  traditional healing practices; detoxification practices and therapies;
  energetic healing; flower essences; folk practices; Gerson Therapy;
Healing
practices utilizing food, food supplements; nutrients and physical
forces of
  heat, cold, water, color,
   touch, and light; healing-related kinesiology; Healing Touch;
Hellerwork;
   hergology or herbalixm; homeopathy; Iridology; Jin Shin Therapy;
Mind-Body
   Healing practices; naturopathy; polarity therapy; Qi Gong; reflexology;
Reiki; Rolfing; Shiatsu; Trager Approach; Heawlth; Tuina; Yoga; or any
   combination of such practices.

In addition to the drawbacks of this legislation as listed below, please
be aware that the bill, A8704, clearly states that this state
legislation
supercedes U.S. constitutional protections and rights guaranteed by the
5th
Amendment under U.S. law if a complaint is received against any healer
  using
an unlicensed healing modality (sic, see above list). Also, the
Commissioner may issue an ORDER DIRECTING THE PRACTITIONER TO SUBMIT TO
A
MENTAL OR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION OR CHEMICAL DEPENDANCY EVALUATION.
In other words, if A8704 is passed into law, NY State spiritual and
other
  unlicensed
healers (including priests, nuns, ministers who do laying on of hands
healing) may be forced to surrender the privacy of their medical
records

From: Deborah Mokma [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: FWD (US) Rep. McKinney - A hero in the demand for inquiry into 9-11
Date: Thu, 28 Mar 2002

We have a hero in the demand for inquiry into 9-11. Congresswoman Cynthia
Ann McKinney from Georgia has begun demanding that the Bush/Bin Laden
connection and the bizarre fabrications making up the official story around
the 9-11, WTC attacks, be FULLY INVESTIGATED.

She has suffered much hate mail from this, and she needs our support.

In just five years, Cynthia Ann McKinney, Georgia's first African-American
Congresswoman and the only woman serving in the state's congressional
delegation, has emerged as an internationally renowned advocate for voting
rights, human rights and the strengthening of business ties between Africa
and the United States. She is known as a passionate, intelligent,
charismatic and effective member of the House of Representatives.

As a Georgia state legislator from 1988 to 1992, Congresswoman McKinney
gained national attention because of her determined struggle for a fair and
just reapportionment plan in Georgia. Elected to the U.S. House of
Representatives by a decisive margin in 1992, McKinney has continued that
struggle. Her new district, the Fourth Congressional District of Georgia,
was redrawn as a result of recent US. Supreme Court decisions challenging
the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act.

The New York Times reported this week the Senate committee voted
unanimously to dramatically widen the 9-11 inquiries. This doesn't mean
it's a done deal, it could still be glossed over. HOWEVER, with committed
people of conscience like Rep. McKinney pushing and pushing behind the
committees, WE COULD HAVE A REAL INQUIRY.

Here's a courageous person in government who deserves our support for
standing up and speaking out.

Please send cards of thanks and support to:

NOTE FROM JEAN: Here is another comment I received on this from Liz Daly
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Representative McKinney is in alignment with Representative Kucinich in
the fact that they want to expose the truth. She is very brave and is
receiving threats... so she needs etheric, spiritual, emotional, mental
support. (...) Those of bravery within the Congress of the U.S. are
beginning to soar. This is a miracle.

Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney reads her essay/commentary on the
war against terrorism in an interview with Dennis Bernstein broadcast on

Complete text of her (excellent) essay/commentary can be found at

This is an excerpt, followed by Dennis Bernstein's questions and her response:

(...) And so, with no concern at all for the effects on others of US
supported terrorism the US, with its bombs and military, embarked on a
world-wide crusade against terrorism that Bush said likely will last as
many as 20 years. The list of target countries is long, with Afghanistan,
Somalia, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, the Philippines, and Iraq offering the
starters. But what of the fact that Henry Kissinger and the current new US
Ambassador to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, both once lobbied Washington,
DC on behalf of a US oil company, Unocal, and a softer policy toward the
Taliban?

Whose war is this really?

In November 2000 Republicans stole from America our most precious right of
all, the right to free and fair elections. In an organized manner, Florida
Governor Jeb Bush and his Secretary of State Katharine Harris created a
list of convicted felons, 57,700 to be exact, to scrub from the state's
voter roles. The names were created from Florida records and from lists
provided by 11 other states, the largest list coming from Texas. We now
know that most of the people on that list were innocent of crimes. The list
was a phony. And worse, the majority of those rightful voters were people
of color, and likely Democratic voters. Of the thousands who had their
votes scrubbed, 80% are African Americans. Had they voted, the course of
history would have

Glad to hear your health is on the mend.

Yes we celebrate or at least acknowledge all holiday's except the hallmark variety

Last night my wife Linda had a Full Moon Ceremony for a dozen at risk teenage girls, she's flying high today.

Hi! Manfred,
You are welcome to ask about my bedroom. It is in a new house, built
on 200 acres of granite hills country. A place with spectacular views over
the harbour and gulf, but full of earth energy lines.
Trying to place the house to suit view/ access/ Feng Shui/ Permaculture,
while still trying to avoid the worst of the energy was a challenge. Did
not want to do all my self and paid Kevin Massman to be involved and both
Alanna More and Tom Graves have helped. Still have some lines that had
to be staked/ coiled etc.
SO wanted safest possible bed.
I wanted a futon, but Fran won out with the most expensive latex one
she could find (over $2000). The bed is "four by twos", on bought,
turned legs, as have not got the lathe set up. Fran like to sit up and
read in bed, so has a sloping bed head. There is a seven by one shirt around
it to cover the slats and top of the legs.
The slats are fixed, each by six 65 mm screws, they are not going anywhere.
It has about 140 feet of lumber in it.

Unanticipated Blessing: The One-Straw Revolution On-line

2002-03-29 Thread bdnow

Hello everyone,
I have just uploaded to the files section of the
group two electronic
copies of Fukuoka's The One-Straw Revolution.

One is a simple text file (232KB) that I believe all pcs and macs can handle
(using notepad in windows), the other is in the pdf format (297KB) that
helps retain layout features across platforms and is especially useful for
printing (if you do not have a copy of the free pdf reader, then it can be
downloaded from the makers, Adobe, at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.)

In working on this edition I have been aware throughout of Fukuoka's wish
that only his latest work be published. However, despite inquiries in Japan
about an English version of this last work (see previous emails forwarded by
me to this list) and Robert's kind offer to have his Japanese copy published
electronically, this work is, in reality, unavailable to us.

The current copyright status of the Indian Editions of The One-Straw
Revolution, The Natural Way of Farming and The Road Back to Nature is as
influenced by the above wishes of Fukuoka's as is my electronic copy.
However, I do not wish to compare editions, the Indian editions are by far
the better form in which to have the work, especially as they have (if the
introduction by Partap Aggarwal is accepted) the tacit approval of The
Rodale Press. I recommend to everyone to buy Fukuoka's books (see previous
email for detailed order instructions)

I have pared the book to the words of Fukuoka alone; there is no Preface,
Introduction or Translators Note: you will find no photos either (accepting
the pdf version where I have retained the two Food Mandalas as they were
pertinent to the text). This edition is not a rival to the book.

It is intended to fill the interval between the intriguing references to
Fukuoka (in Permaculture, organic farming, sustainable technologies etc) and
the often lengthy (and outside this group little known) route necessary to
purchase one of his books inspired by these references. It is intended to
make Fukuoka present to the agricultural world in a way he has never been
before.

Finally, and legalistically, this is, nominally, a copyrighted text. Whilst
I would ask everyone to distribute this work as widely as possible, to send
it to friends, to put it up on their websites etc, it is necessary to be
aware of this fact. For the reasons outlined above, I believe in
disseminating Fukuoka's work we are achieving more than is presently being
achieved with the status quo.

Saving Them By Eating Them

I haven't read this article in full, but the Orion people can be
