Japanese beetles

2003-03-16 Thread Cordelia Lane
Dear Friends,

I was just checking the best ashing times for insects as listed on the BD
Association website and was wondering if anyone knew whether Japanese
beetles would come under the same category as the Colorado potato beetle. I
have a jar full of Japanese beetles awaiting the right moment.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

RE: [globalnews] Jesus 'healed using cannabis'

Dear folks,

In reference to Christ's healing powers, Lecture Three of The Spiritual
Guidance of the Individual and Humanity by Steiner, states:

The miracles of healing the sick must also be understood from this point of
view. Let us look at just one passage, the one that reads,Now when the sun
was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases
brought them to Him; and He laid his hands on them and healed them (Luke
5:40). What does this mean? Here the gospel writer points out that this
healing was connected with the constellation of the stars, that in those
days the necessary constellation was present only after the sun had set. In
other words, in those times the healing forces could manifest themselves
only after sunset. Christ Jesus is portrayed as the mediator who brings
together the sick and the forces of the cosmos that could heal them at
precisely that time. These were the same forces that also worked as Christ
in Jesus. The healing occurred through Christ's presence, which exposed the
sick to the healing cosmic forces. These healing forces could be effective
only under the appropriate conditions of space and time, as described above.
In other words, the forces of the cosmos worked on the sick through their
representative, the Christ.

Better than hash-oil any day.

EPIPHANY, 2003

1:15Dissolving the dynamized paste of the three gifts of the Magi into the
warm water - a golden color, a golden aroma.

1:30Strring, stirring, stirring, singing my stirring songs: Dona Nobis
Pacem,
Ego sum pauper, nihil habeo, cormeum dabo
and Christmas Carols: Un Flambeau, Jeanette Isabelle, the Holly and the
Ivy, We three Kings of Orient Are, Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht
2:30Done, rest the stirring spoon
Rest the body
2:45Prepare the gear - half gallon of preparation in the bucket, half
gallon in the backpack. Look out the window - it's snowing!
Snow pants, snow boots, snow jacket, hat, mittensand snowshoes.
3:00Feed the dogs, feed the sheep
3:15Begin sprinkling the goldfrankincensemyrrh.(this may take almost two
hours, so must get going a bit before 4:00) Pungent fragrance recalls the
hour of dynamizing on New Year's Eve.
Time for the snowshoes, the plowed driveway ends.
The woods are exquisitely lovely with fresh powdery snow on every
evergreen branch.
Down the gully, up the gully, turn right at the Back of Beyond.
Meander along the meandering saltmarsh banks of the tidal creek.
This moment could not be more beautiful.
Sprinkling the gifts of the Three Wise Men - the wisdom, the spirit,
the
victory of life over death.

It is with heart-high gladness that I do this deed, that I welcome and
support
the hard-working elementals with these forces.

4:15Almost done, one more field to go. The dogs join me joyfully romping
in the snow.

4:45Done. Exhilaration, gratitude

  Dear BDNowers,

Having recalled a discussion about various ways
to deal with poison ivy earlier this summer, I have just spent a while
scrolling through the archives but have been unable to find anything.
Our local Waldorf school will be building an
early childhood center in the next year on a lovely piece of the school's
property. The only problem is that there is a LOT of poison ivy
  there.
Would be very appreciative of any advice I could
pass on to the folks at the school.
  Thanks,
  Cordelia

clay soil

2002-06-04 Thread cordelia

Dear BD farmers,This is my first query to all of you. We have
just moved to some land insouthern Maine and have just rototilled our first
patch of soil with thehopes of working this land biodynamically. It
appears to be solid clay. Hard, golfball-sized rocks. What are
yourbest, first recommendations for beginning to build this soil,
given that wejust got here and have not yet had the time to start a serious
compostingeffort?A local landscaper (not BD) says he has had his
best luck with loads of peatmixed with compost and some sand then that is
rototilled into the clay.It seems I remember Steiner nixing peat in the
Agriculture book. So what doyou experienced farmers know about
peat? Also what about gypsum?Any and all advice is welcomed.
My husband is wondering whether we oughtnot go into the clay pot or brick
business instead!Thanks.Cordelia
