Dear Frank,

We should all do exercies to increase our basic observational skills.
Observation is the basis of intelligence, a fact lost on our public
schools. We can all raise our IQ's into the stratosphere by increasing our
powers of observation. It takes a little energy, which we can gain from
eating good food. And it takes the understanding and resolve of looking for
ways to improve our powers of observation. But observation is the key, and
interestingly enough, it is a passive, receptive, feminine thing. One of
the things wrong with our social order is it is too predominantly
masculine. But I hope this statement doesn't fuel the sex wars. Everyone
needs to be more balanced. Masculine--focus and direction, which is the
next step--is good too.

Best,
Hugh Lovel

Is it just possible that some people could be mistaken rather than flat-out,
undertaker beetle daid? Or even have alternative approaches that may have
their place?

Last time I saw Hugh he looked pretty alive, and presumably these other
folks are alive too, and if we don't agree about everything, at least we can
acknowledge the breath of life in each other.

I consider 'they are dead' to be the moral equivalent of 'yo mama ugly'
without the humorous subcontent.

What spiritual exercises should I be doing to become more discerning?
