This had surprised me too.

We've been told, in the end the heatsink didn't really make a
difference. (it really needs a fan)..

This is the heatsink used:

This is the fan kit i've been using..

if you just want the kit parts, and dont mind chrimping yourself..

2017-08-18 Thread Gerald Coley
Heatsink and fan information is described in the Quick Start guide. You can run
without a heatsink, unless you are planning to crank it up. Then you really
need the heatsink and the fan together.

FAN

HEATSINK https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=BDN10-%203CB%2FA01

Heatsink has the thermal adhesive on the back.

Subject: [beagleboard] Beagleboard X-15 Heat Sink

Hello all. Just received my Beagleboard X-15 yesterday. Ordered it from
Digi-Key, all okay there, but what's up with the lack of packing inside the
Beagleboard box? Just the board in its anti-static packaging but no padding to
keep it from flopping around in that box. Also there is no heat sink on the
cpu. I'm assuming there needs to be at least a heat sink and optionally a fan
mounted on the heat sink. So my question is, anyone have suggestions for a heat
sink, possibly a part number from Digi-key. Also an appropriate
adhesive/thermal paste to mount the heat sink with?

Looking forward to getting a few projects going on this beast...

Thanks,
Ross
