[Newbies] SoC idea: Futuristic New Browser View
Dear Squeakers, is anybody out there who wants to do a futuristic new browser view during this year's SoC. It's not about the browser itself, this machinery is supposed to be (re-)used from existing browsers. Also, not everything in the futuristic new browser view can be done in the first phase; especially the tuples for what is selectable/shown in the panes are supposed to be addressed in another project phase. This can be your chance to create a new browser view which many developers would like to see and use :) Drop me an email in case that is interesting to you. /Klaus ___ Beginners mailing list Beginners@lists.squeakfoundation.org http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners
[Newbies] Headless Squeak on Redhat - HELP!
Sqweet. Hmm. Would it be better to manually insert the options I want to set into #setPlatformPreferences (warnIfNoChangesFile false, warnIfNoSourcesFile false, updateFromServerAtStartup false), thus editing a system class, or somehow put these into my own class and call them? If the latter, what would be the typical Squeak way of going about it? Albegadeep Never miss a thing. [Newbies] Save without processShutDownList/processStartUpList?
I'm working on a server-side program that should save its state occasionally to prevent data loss. I really don't want the open ports to be closed, all users kicked, etc. just to save the program. Is there a way to save the image without running the processShutDownList command when not quitting? OR Is there a way to detect when an image is being saved-without-quitting and thus know not to shut everything down? Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. [Newbies] [Election 2008] The results are in!
Hi all Squeakers! Ok, the Squeak Foundation Board Election 2008 ended 19 minutes ago - promptly at 18.00 UTC, 8 March. For this year we had 437 authorized voters of which 178 voted, that is slightly more than 40% voting - a bit disappointing IMHO since we had 157 voting of 347 last year which gives above 45%. On the other hand 178 is more than 157, so we had more voters and thus a growing community, which of course is the most important aspect! And without further ado I bring you the board for the following year starting from NOW. The order reflects the ranking from the election: 1. Dan Ingalls 2. Craig Latta 3. Bert Freudenberg 4. Yoshiki Ohshima 5. Tim Rowledge 6. Randal L. Schwartz 7. Igor Stasenko And thus the candidates left out are the following (also in ranked order): 8. Giovanni Corriga 9. Edgar J. De Cleene 10. Andrew P. Black 11. Matthew Fulmer 12. Tansel Ersavas For excrutiating details see: http://www.cs.cornell.edu/w8/~andru/cgi-perl/civs/results.pl?id=E_d38cc 27709a65b64 This also means that we say THANK YOU to Andrew Black, Cees de Groot and Stéphane Ducasse for having served on the board the previous year. Thanks guys! And we also say welcome Dan, Randal and Igor to the board! And thank YOU for voting and all the best to the new board! Viva la Squeak! regards, Göran Krampe PS. And to you guys that didn't get on the board - hey, we all know that the REAL WORK is done in the teams, right? :) ___ Beginners mailing list Beginners@lists.squeakfoundation.org http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners

For quick replies in which the context probably doesn't need to be reviewed (just remembered because the original happened a few nanoseconds ago) I prefer top-posting as both a poster and reader. - Robert - Bert - ___ Beginners mailing list Beginners@lists.squeakfoundation.org http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners ___ Beginners mailing list Beginners@lists.squeakfoundation.org http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners
