 Hi,

search.cpan.org.. Any idea why?

Either a computer between you and CPAN is down temporarily, or very
busy, or perhaps your Domain Name Server is down or extremely busy. We
frequently have our DNS just get really busy here in the US (Michigan).

Or you need to flush your cache. For reasons I assume have something
to do with the mirror system, search.cpan.org seems to change it's ip
at least once a day; I can almost never get it with a chached ip.

It's annoying, and I don't remember it being this way in the past
(redirection used to happen via server push rather than DNS?), but it
seems to be the way things work at the moment. Try clearning your
browser cache and if that doesn't work, flush your dns cahche: lookupd
-flushcache on Mac, ipconfig /flushcache on windows, or whatever the
fush command is if you're running a caching nameserver on something
else. In many cases, the try again button in your browser's failure
message will reissue the query automatically, too. Sometimes you have
to hit it twice.
