I won't give any opinion. A consensus decision will be my direction. Can you share more details about the distro and any other patches that you might be using, so that this option can be explored further. Sorry can't understand, what options? I use some KDE apps (e.g. Konqueror) with bn interfaces. I love to use their bn shortcuts. There's been no decision in this regard in Ankur either. So please clarify this through further discussion in the core list. There have been ***numerous*** mails sent about this issue over the past 2 years hoping that after discussing it thoroughly a consensus would be reached. Links follow. There were mails, but no concrete decisions to follow. As I have said in my last mail gtk+* files override some of the important menu items in Gnome appilcations e.g. file, new, cut, copy, paste etc. etc. which results in nearly 40% of the menu items picking up bn shortcuts from the gtk+* files, even though the shortcuts in that particular application use english shortcuts. in the case of gtk+* files..shortcut keys are not the only issue. even the menu entries get overridden. Y, this is a serious prob. Solution is easy too - either I convert all POs under my maintenance to en shortcuts or you do the reverse. agreed. and even more confusing if half of the interface of a single application in either of the two desktop interfaces do not match. generally it is considered that languages using non-latin scripts should stick to the original english shortcuts for the sake of consistency. Especially languages which use half-form conjuncts. A nice link for this: http://listserv.acm.org/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind0502bL=chi-interculturalF=S=P=645 Thanks for the link. Hope this'll help people make up their mind. Given that important issues like this come up in fits and starts and raise their heads like ghosts from the past with people reluctant to talk, the only solution i see is throwing issues open to vote and then going by that decision. No prob with voting. Maybe Salahuddin66 will get the opportunity to setup an online voting system this time :-) I'll wait for a final decision now. For consonant-clusters, the simplest format is like this - code-point-of-first-char + U+09CD + code-point-of-second-char for example, uo+go's code sequence is - U+0999 + U+09CD + U+0997 this'll of course be in UTF-8 or UTF-16 format.
