Pam Years ago I had a ShihTzu that had autoimmune deficiency. We almost
lost her in the beginning - was given an initial booster dose of prednisone and
stayed on that until we lost her at 13 yrs. old. She was diagnosed at 5 yrs
old. So there is hope,. Of course, had to have blood checks every few months
once she was stable and levels done of the meds to make sure they we enough
for her system. For a while she was on pred 3xs a day. She needed extra care
but it was worth it!!! So don't give up - will be praying for you and Tilly

Oozing Cyst

2003-06-19 Thread Adogable9
Laura I have been through this many times with my golden. My vet always had
me put warm compresses on the site 3-4 times a day. Usually after a couple
of days, the cyst would burst and drain. Sometimes they would come back but
not all the time. Also had some of them removed, but after a while didn't want
to keep putting her through surgery. She was just prone to getting cysts.
Good Luck to you and Baka

Joyce I couldn't agree with you more. I have 4 goldens and we added our new
baby berner who is now 9 mos. They are so much alike and they get along
great! I also live on Long Island (Farmingdale). Small world ! My daughter
works for a vet and laughs at our berner- says he's more golden than berner!
I couldn't agree with you more- would get another golden or berner in a
heartbeat!!! Lots of work, but worth every minute of it. Denise

I took insurance out on our Berner Deuce when he arrived. We have PetCare
Insurance - QuickCareGold Plan. It costs $37.95 a month because Berners
are considered a select breed . I have only had to use it twice ( not for
anything major thank goodness!) . There is a $50 deductible for each claim-
but it covers everything except routine shots check-ups and spay/neutering.
It DOES cover any orthopedic problems, including hip and elbow surgeries up
to $3,000 per incident. So far it seems pretty good. Took about 2-3 weeks
to get my check in the mail, but so far no complaints. You can find more out
about it on their website petcareinsurance.com

Hi Everyone- I have an 8 mo old Berner who is quite smart. We would like to
start training him for agility. Have found a trainer who gives an 8 week
course for this. My question is this- is he too young to start training for
this? I wouldn't want to do anything to harm him - I know he has alot of
growing to do and wouldn't want to jeopardize his hips or legs. Anyone have
any advice for me? Love listening to all of your suggestions and advice
everyday. I've learned sooo much. Thanks again for any help you can give me.
