I just hate to disagree with Rose about anything.
Nonetheless... Our Gus came home when he had just turned three (August
2001) and had barely finished his Canadian championship. When I look at
photographs of him then, it is quite a different dog. I didn't really notice
him changing, but in the 2 years between his 3rd and 5th birthday, little by
little, his head continued to take on solidity and fullness. His chest
continued to fill out until he turned 4. At 5 years old, he is just a
gorgeous boy, and he was neutered within days of joining our family. He is
slim, but has all kinds of 'stuff'. Beautiful!
Where I do completely agree with Rose is when she counsels patience. If a
dog is "incorrect," (I hate that, but you know what I mean) you'll know when
he is a puppy. If he is within the standard, and depending on the lines he
is from, it may take him a while to reach his potential. That's fine. Hold
back, love him, wait.

Their head will finish broadening by two years of age by which time the
chest will be developed.
