Re: [Bes-admins] New users activate immediatly
I should note that new users activate immediately, not immediatly. - Chris On Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 8:35 AM, Chris Burwell cburw...@gmail.com wrote: I have the alerts on our BES (4.1.6.10) to send me an email whenever a user is added, deleted, or activated. This morning I am preparing to migrate a user from a Blackjack to a Blackberry. I added the person to the BES and a minute later received another notification stating that the user had been activated! After checking the server, the status for this user is Running, there is a PIN, and the last contact date is some time in 2007. This same situation has happened on a few users that I have migrated. It seems that if I remove the user, then add them again the same scenario will not occur again. The company I work for had Nextel Blackberries several years back, but I wouldn't think that after 2-3 years that information would still be present on the blackberry network (let alone automatically activate a device). Re: [Bes-admins] User wants all Corporate email sent out via his POP Account
I'm with Joseph on this... unless I'm also missing something. From: bes-admins-boun...@dataoutages.com [mailto:bes-admins-boun...@dataoutages.com] On Behalf Of Eggan, Mark Sent: Friday, April 24, 2009 5:09 PM To: A list for BES Admin's to discuss issues, etc. Subject: [Bes-admins] User wants all Corporate email sent out via his POP Account Why can't Friday's be easy...? This is a project that has been on the backburner for a bit now... So we have an elected official on our BES that wants to have all Corporate (County) email sent to his Exchange account then forwarded to his POP3 account (electedoffic...@somepop3domain.com. Reason is he doesn't want John Q. Citizen thinking that the County Official is replying to personal emails on a BB that is paid for with tax dollars. Now to toss yet another wrench into this, he has an Administrative Professional (secretary) that is his Outlook delegate. So she will need to be able to monitor meeting requests, etc. We are on BES 4.1.6 Exchange 2007 (yay for that upgrade..). This is what we are thinking of doing to facilitate this request, any ideas are absolutely welcome! * Creating a new policy on BES that will send POP3 and Corporate (County) email to his BB. I thought that we could color code all emails coming from his POP3 so its immediately known that this is 'personal' email. I recall seeing a policy that allows for color coding on different emails, so ill check that out. Although that might have been device specific, sorry...thinking aloud. * Any time the user replies to a Corporate email, it will actually get sent out displaying his POP3 account email address. So would a BES policy be best practice, or maybe this: * Create a contact for his POP3 in AD, have all corporate email forward to this contact. * Create a rule in Outlook that allows the delegate access to meetings and such, sending out all meeting stuff out as the corporate email in lieu of his POP3 contact. Hmm, so yeah...any comments are most appreciated! Out *to* his pop or just showing the smtp from address as his pop? If the later and you're on exchange this is easily done with recipient policies and changing his default smtp address as the pop address. - Original Message - From: bes-admins-boun...@dataoutages.com bes-admins-boun...@dataoutages.com To: bes-admins@dataoutages.com bes-admins@dataoutages.com Sent: Fri Apr 24 15:55:32 2009 Subject: Re: [Bes-admins] User wants all Corporate email sent out viahisPOPAccount That's the quandary.
