Re: [bess] Document shepherd review of draft-ietf-bess-pbb-evpn-isid-cmacflush-05
Matthew, Thank you for the review. We just posted version 06 addressing your comments below. Thanks. Jorge From: Matthew Bocci (Nokia) Date: Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:31 PM To: bess@ietf.org , draft-ietf-bess-pbb-evpn-isid-cmacfl...@ietf.org Subject: Document shepherd review of draft-ietf-bess-pbb-evpn-isid-cmacflush-05 Authors As is customary, I have reviewed this draft. It is clear and readable. I have a few minor comments which I would appreciate if you can address before we move this forward: - It would be helpful in the introduction section if you could expand all acronyms on first use. These are defined in the terminology section, but that comes later, and it would improve the readability of the section. - Section 2: Solution Requirements. These are mostly missing requirements language, such as SHOULD, MUST, RECOMMENDED, etc, and instead read like a list of properties of the solution. Please look into adding appropriate requirements language to each bullet. - Section 7: IANA Considerations. This is empty. I suggest adding โThis document requests no actions from IANA.โ To make it clear you have not forgotten about them ๐ Thanks Matthew ___ BESS mailing list BESS@ietf.org https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/bess

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories. This draft is a work item of the BGP Enabled ServiceS WG of the IETF. Title : PBB-EVPN ISID-based CMAC-Flush Authors : Jorge Rabadan Senthil Sathappan Kiran Nagaraj M. Miyake T. Matsuda Filename: draft-ietf-bess-pbb-evpn-isid-cmacflush-06.txt Pages : 12 Date: 2022-12-13 Abstract: Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB) can be combined with Ethernet Virtual Private Networks (EVPN) to deploy Ethernet Local Area Network (ELAN) services in large Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks (PBB-EVPN). Single-Active Multi-homing and per-I-SID (per Service Instance Identifier) Load-Balancing can be provided to access devices and aggregation networks. In order to speed up the network convergence in case of failures on Single-Active Multi-Homed Ethernet Segments, PBB-EVPN defines a flush mechanism for Customer MACs (CMAC- flush) that works for different Ethernet Segment Backbone MAC (BMAC) address allocation models. This document complements those CMAC- flush procedures for cases in which no PBB-EVPN Ethernet Segments are defined (the attachment circuit is associated to a zero Ethernet Segment Identifier) and a Service Instance Identifier based (I-SID- based) CMAC-flush granularity is required.
