Come to think of it, I don't think it has - not in 7.0 at least. Not
sure about 6.5 either... *shrugs*

I'll log it in 7.0 though!

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] AlienBBC and 7 broken on ubuntu?

2007-09-23 Thread bpa

The AlienBBC 1.06 for 6.5/7.0 on www.x25systems.com/alienbbc does not
support the settings in current 7.0. The website text has not been
updated and become out of date wrt 7.0.

A beta release of AlienBBC for 7.0 is being prepared with support for
the current 7.0 settings and also support for Jive.

There will be an announcement when the beta release AlienBBC for 7.0 is
available.

[SlimDevices: Beta] AlienBBC and 7 broken on ubuntu?

2007-09-23 Thread Patrick Dixon

I've recently updated from 6.5 to 7 on ubuntu 7.04. AlienBBC was all
working on 6.5, and the Alien directory and contents all appeared under
Plugins with 7. However, AlienBBC didn't figure in Server Settings
Plugins, and there's no trace of it anywhere else.

So I've deleted the AlienBBC directory, and reinstalled 1.06, but with
the same result.

Logfile on startup is as follows:

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Plugins for SlimServer 7

2007-09-23 Thread ceejay

A slightly different variation on an issue mentioned earlier: in another
thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38604 erland was
kind enough to point out that the correct 7.x location for non-bundled
plugins is ...slimserver\server\Plugins (like it always was). However
this folder is not created by default in my version, and I think it
should be - even if empty. Even better, how about create it with a
little README inside?

I am using the Windows .exe installer, SlimServer Version: 7.0 - 13131
- Windows XP - EN - cp1252

I'm not familiar with the way .deb is installing. Do you have any other
3rd party plugins which do work? Where are their file located?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-09-23 Thread Phil Meyer
I've tried 7.0 with Fishbone, which feels much more responsive to me (I'm more
at home with it), but I did notice an issue with album information display.

I went to Albums in Gallery mode. I like the way that the track listing for an
album pops up over the albums list, although it would be nice to have the album
artist name and album name. I selected an album that didn't have a tooltip on
it (turns out it was "All Songs"). This popped open a long list of tracks,
which was not all songs. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the popup, as
the close button was off the right hand side, and the horizontal scrollbar was
off the bottom of the screen!

OK, to further expand upon bugs with the latest nightly build, it turns
out that whenever you restart your computer the settings for iTunes
dissappears in the Slimserver Settings drop-down list.

SlimServer Version: 7.0 - 13213 - Windows Vista - EN - cp1252

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Slimserver beta 7 and iTunes playlists: missing!

2007-09-23 Thread EnochLight

I noticed an anomaly in today's build; think I should post this as a
bug?

Ran the setup wizard and chose to have Slimserver sync with iTunes. I
also have a directory of FLAC's that I synced as well. Anyway, upon
first install and scan, Slimserver found my iTunes playlists.

However, I went into Slimserver Settings and under iTunes, I deleted
the prefix "iTunes:" and did a complete rescan. All of my iTunes
playlists dissappeared.

I went back into iTunes settings and entered the "iTunes:" prefix again
and did a complete rescan. However, my playlists were still gone! So,
I restarted - and here's the rub - my iTunes settings under Slimserver
were gone! No more menu! Plus, when I selected the iTunes plugin
settings under the Plugins, it gave me a page not found.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Slimserver, and then rescanning, appears
to have fixed this. However, that's a pain to have to go through.

I thought dropping the "iTunes:" prefix just eliminated how they appear
in your Slimserver list?

Yes, thank you! In SlimServer Version: 7.0 - 13213 - Windows Vista -
EN - cp1252 it appears to be fixed. Now, if the Apple mov123/Vista bug
can be fixed then we can actually listen to our .m4a's on our Squeezebox
again. ;-)

*crossing fingers*

I realize this isn't a Logitech problem per say, but is there any
chance that Logitech, Apple, and Microsoft can coordinate a fix since
no one else apparently can?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-09-23 Thread Phil Meyer
I gave it a quick try, and first impression is that it's going to be too flashy
for my liking. It seems slow and unresponsive compared to what I am used to in
6.5 (I use fishbone skin), and there's too much wasted space.

Here's a few more specific comments:

1. Why have a header and footer? Can't the Help, Player settings and Server
settings be added to the top, and save the space at the bottom?

2. Resizing the screen on the setup wizard causes the player panel on the left
(that shouldn't be there during initial setup, I guess) to be equally
distributed horizontally, so the wizard panel can become a little small. Then,
after setup is complete, you get two now playing panels!

3. A splitter control between the Home Browser panel and the Now Playing panel
would be nice - if I expand window size to see more album artwork when
browsing, the Now Playing area is made larger than needed. Also, if window
size is reduced, the now playing panel goes a bit mad (probably needs a minimum
size).

4. Mouse hover over browse methods is fairly responsive, but over album artwork
browsing, you have to pause over artwork for the play/add options to come
active.

5. Can't see the point of rounded corners and borders. The white border isn't
needed, the outer darker blue isn't really needed.

I'll probably stick with Fishbone (hope it's still going to be supported in 7,
otherwise classic), and Moose for PC browsing.
